I feel like the GR is going to take all the fake bodies of the departed and have a mass suicide with them.

Oh wow so I just rewatched the scene and I completely missed the implication in that argument. I thought Aimee got mad cuz Jill asked her if she ****** her dad. I didn't pay attention to what was really meant when she asked if she's okay cuz apparently she lost her parents too.

Anyway,

 I just remembered Gladys begged for her life near the end and Patti over here lying talking about she was okay with it and down.

Maybe she was down with it earlier because she believed in the cause
But when it came to the final moments of her life, she might've want to back out

The past 2 weeks episodes had me like :x :smh: and :wow: all at the same time. Pretty much what I have been waiting for the entire season so far. I almost gave up on the show after 2 episodes but said what the heck because i dont really have another show besides Law & Order SVU which hasnt been on in forever now.

Anyways ... so back when Gladys was stoned and Patti took Laurie away, I already had a feeling then she had something to do with it. Then when she changed clothes are started talking seems like she was taunting Laurie or trying to bait her in to talking. Had me thinking maybe Gladys talked at some point and this was the consequence. Either way I felt like Patti had some mystery about her doings. Im glad she did herself in I couldn’t stand her or Gladys they both would have pushed me over the limit if I were being stalked by them. What’s with all the smoking too, I feel like those cigs might have something laced in them.
Patti prob is trying to set up Kevin in order to have Laurie dealt with by the GR. I was happy to see him not give her the satisfaction and cut her loose. When she picked up the glass I was expecting her to come after him, him being a cop having to use reasonable force to protect himself and not having a choice but to kill her with the knife he had. I would not have turned around though when she said something.

Dean (the dog guy) is Kevin’s alter ego perhaps and brings out the bad in him?

Wayne to me is just a confused man who doesnt know if he wants to be straight or gay. I thought initally he may know something about the departures but then I think he may just have been close to being busted for illegal women. $1000 for a hug, no thanks ... but the money was just fuel to keep him on the run. The hug simply was a shoulder to cry on a stranger who was showing compassion. Using the accent and soft tone in his voice to lure someone into a hug just have them exhale and let go of the grief. Thought of it as when you really do lose someone close to you when you can accept it hug it out you can officially move on. His impregnating of women, im lost on it.

Garvey's dad, whatever his name is, is who i think truly knows something about whats going on. Could it be that the voices came from him not using pills anymore in which kevin himself flushed all of his and is now going crazy? When Kevin blacked out and brought the dog home, I think he made a pass at Aimee in which made the tension stronger (who couldn’t notice this from episode 1). Doesn’t help with her walking around in the green tank in the last ep.

Nora sparked my interested after she popped a molly at that convention thing. She did not disappoint
Just waiting on Aimee to deliver :smoking (peeping since ep 1)
The Mayor, Laurie & Meg as well

These last 2 episodes better reveal at least something though

This brings up a good point though, I mean Leftovers did get renewed, but I don't think it received the reception HBO was hoping for because HBO does need a new show to headline their summers with True Blood ending.

Was The Leftover Marketed Wrong by HBO?

By Josh Hil

One thing that HBO has done well at the moment is market their shows in a subtle yet easily digestible way. Shows like Game of Thrones, True Blood and Boardwalk Empire are all very easy to understand concepts that spider web into more deep and intricate plotlines and storylines.

When it comes to The Leftovers though, things got reversed, as the concept of the show is extremely ambitious while things develop at a much slower rate. True Detective ran into this a bit at the beginning of the series but word of mouth marketing and smart marketing from HBO helped lead folks in the right direction.

The Leftovers hasn’t had that, as most people you try to talk to about the show who haven’t dug into it either don’t know what the series is (which is bad) or they think the show is about people disappearing (which is worse).

It’s one thing to not know what the show is, which is a failure in marketing by HBO, but it’s another thing to think that the show is about one thing when it’s actually about something different. While that’s the point of the show — the disappearance incident is a MacGuffin that sets in motion that real series — you can’t disguise it so much that people get confused from the get-go.

Not every television viewer is brilliant, and some need to have their hands held. There’s a limit to hand holding with television shows but there has to be an effort made to make sure people understand the show and that doesn’t seem to have happened with HBO and The Leftovers.

^ kinda like Flash Forward a few years ago. There was a blackout around the world for a few seconds and they try to figure itout but it just kept dragging out n last few episodes found out ppl were from another planet or something it just fizzled out n they cancelled. Then a year later made almost the exact same.show with a diff name and some of the same.ppl lol

The dog killer is a real person. Not an alter ego. Several ppl have acknowledged his existence. Patti even talks about how they researched him and that they can't find anything on him so he's basically a ghost.

Correct .. but it doesnt mean that Kevin could be hallucinating and Patti was entertaining him

But then again some of the officers and a forensic guy or something were talking to him when Gladys was stoned ...

He has to be real.

Even if Patti was playing along it wouldn't make sense for her to say what she said about dude being a ghost.

Also, again, that would mean Garvey hallucinated being in the woods finding his shirts and was really tying up Patti, strapping her down tighter and putting the bag over her head to kill her, went outside, stopped hallucinating, and then ran back inside to have a fake fight with himself  before he eventually saved her.

I say, instead of stepping back to try and figure the big picture, let's just focus on the small, microscopic things.

- The Mystery of The White Shirts Solved

I'm glad Jill joined the GR. She is truly the Meg of the show, and now we don't have to suffer hearing her talk, hooray!!! Sadly, with that development, Liv Tyler started talking again...you can't win 'em all.

 yeah you right but hey .. he could have blacked out for a few minutes and they didnt show it. Anyways past that... I still wanna know what that guys deal is though why he's so mysterious and creepy

Who ever a page back made that connection with Kevin and Tom though may be on to something

Liv Tyler keep making my thoughts run in this show. Seem like that quiet type that can go ham

(rich boy lip bite)

So did the Garveys even lose anyone in the departure? Was there another kid besides Jill & Tom?

I don't believe this show is not going to provide any actual answers. But the stripping away of oneself that Patti talks about is some ancient religious ritual. The story most people know of it today is in Catholicism and the sacrifice of Christ.

There are also other religious tropes for example JIll (the daughter) the two guys with the Prius that she's always with they seem to be modeled after the two demons that Hades has doing his biding in Hercules : Pain and Panic.

Also I think Aimee's parents are departed.

When they just started off with her screaming and I realized it was her I was like damn that didn't take long :smh:

Liv Tyler has one of the most annoying quiet voices ever.

Well on his way out he was talking to himself so I figure he's part of the crazy crew with Garvey's dad who have voices and get told orders or w/e.

The episode gave some answers in its own little way.

There are still frustrating parts about this show. EVERYTHING has to be a mystery. Even small stuff, like the daughter finding Nora's gun and crying. It's not 100% clear why she breaks down or even cares about the gun so much. When almost every scene is written to make you ask "what's going on here?" it gets frustrating.

I'm not sure what to make of the GR's intentions. Right now they just seem lame.

She breaks down because she didn't want to find the gun. Goes back to the dinner conversation with Nora. Nora said she carried the gun to feel ok / better but doesn't need it anymore. Jill is messed up emotionally. Her hearing that Nora is ok now even though Nora has every reason to not be ok since she lost her whole family, maybe gave her a little hope. Should've just told her the truth about a creepy guy hugging her pain away. I'm wondering how the hell she find the gun so fast. Kevin is going to get hulk mad when he finds out where Jill is.

Love how the pastor is trolling the gr's. liv tyler's character is so annoying and too stupid to even follow the gr's no talking rule. Nora needs to shoot her in the mouth with that revolver. I like to imagine her and Kevin going on a rampage and shooting up the gr house.

I guess they bought all those body copies from the guy Nora met at that conference. Wonder how much all of that cost.

Maybe it's like a Fight Club like thing. Did people in the movie interact with Tyler Durden when he was onscreen? I can't remember.

Nora that ride or die though, probably on her way upstate to help her mans right now

I agree with the criticism of HBO and their marketing strategy for the show. But to be honest, the writing on the show for most of the episodes has been trash. The episodes aren't coherent for the most part. I have no problem with the show not highlighting where the people went, but that's no excuse for what we've seen.

Yeah they did but that's cuz it was actually Norton doing it all and he imagined himself next to him. Every scene with ppl talking to Durden it's cuz he's in the driver seat of the body while the main personality is on the side having this hallucinating out of body continuous experience thinking there's two different ppl when there isn't. I guess the main thing you'd have to look for there is how nobody interacts with Norton's character.

On the show we've seen ppl interact with the dog killer and Garvey at the same time in the same scene.
