He said it was con ed working on some gas/electric thing.

One could theorize it was something else though. I won't

lol I know what he said he thought it was, but what if its something else? Like supernatural? lol just saying

Please calm down señor
@ Fullcourtpress said "no spoilers" after asking about books. Calming down was a great request , let me make it, for you

Broski , it's not that serious. I too was asking how deep does it go, like in terms of will we be able to get more than two seasons out of it, are we far along in the book at this point, things like that.

So, let's all calm down then, and stop telling people "it's not that serious" or "calm the F down", cool, cool...

Its weird to me how drastic everyone's personalities changed except Kevin's.

True. Thought the same thing when he just went "**** you, Laurie."

There are some small differences with him - smoking (which is a pretty big visual theme) and how invested he becomes in finding that deer, which is the opposite of how little he cared about Baby Jesus. He also seems to know the value of family now. Just none of that really affected his semi-prick personality though

Kevin's responses are the best, I really like his character when he is just like "**** you"

It's funny because this episode put the end of episode 8 into perspective for me. When Patti was like "You understand me" and Kevin was like no I don't. She was basically saying that the GR's whole belief system is that none of this matters. Nothing really makes Kevin happy or sad or grateful, which his dad called him out on after he gave that speech at the party. Essentially I think Patti was saying that Kevin understands her because they both feel like there is no point to anything. He even admits to Patti that he never thinks about October 14, which is crazy because everybody else is so caught up on remembering that date outside of the GR. Seeing that his personality was the only one who had no real dramatic change, I think it showed that he was already kind of dead to the world prior to October 14.

^ Some great points. There are a lot of parallels between the GR giving up loved ones, emotion, communication, attachment to ones who left, etc. and Kevin.

However, I don't think the GR's belief system is that "none of this matters," but "none of what happened matters" - in regards to loved ones disappearing and why they did. I guess there's a difference but I confuse myself thinking about it  They want to leave some sort of impression in present day, I'm just not sure what it is.

I noticed their similarities but then I wondered why they never tried to recruit him? or maybe they did and they haven't revealed that yet.

Nora too post-event had that apathetic vibe too and it made sense why she was a strong candidate before the hug.

We said it cuz you were getting too hyphy bruh

Anyway that deer was not a normal deer , there has to be some supernatural element to show

This show has me intrigued. The actress Briana Marin  .

Anymore "SCENES" like that.

Y'all talking about the instrumental that they kept playing?

Yeah, that music makes me want to think about life and the universe. Puts me in some kind of mental state. Weird.

Based on the episode it seems that the pastor wasn't nearly as devout pre-departure.

Nothing wrong with enjoying a few drinks.

Nora's husband is that journalist from house of cards I think. I thought he kinda looked like her brother. It was also weird she was mouth kissing the actor playing her son.

That woman kev got was nice. This whole time I thought the woman he cheated with was blond. Her hair looked blond in the earlier flashback scene from episode 1.

Wanted them to show what Aimee was like.

Nah ppl are just crazy on this show. Delusions and mass hallucinations.

Garvey is probably a depressed bipolar schizophrenic that's been self--medicating and been undiagnosed since he was a teenager. Pops probably has it and probably hid that Kevin has it.

Title of thread needs to be changed... Had me wondering if the guide on my tv was incorrect

Then I remembered that hbo always skips air dates on holiday weekends.

No new episode this week

^Fixed. Yeah I forgot about that too HBO and their skipping holidays thing

just caught up all on 9 eps

my theory is that the 2% that disappeared were those that were already judged in the rapture, and "the leftovers" so to speak are those are still yet to be decided.

characters like wayne and the man with the gun i think are like supernatural figures.

as others have said, i think wayne is some manifestation of the devil, taking souls along with pain.  i feel it would explain his bisexuality, desire for money, and need to have a son.

the man with gun i think represents violence, like an angel of death, and the dogs represent the evil within people.  thematically, the only way to combat evil is with violence.  as he said, he sees himself as a guardian angel.

the mayor's relationship with garvey sr. i think happened because of her aspirations to be mayor and garvey's pull with the community/police.

i think lori joined the gr as an escape after the loss of the baby and patti probably persuaded her after the fact.

i think in the finale we'll find out garvey's other personality is behind the gr.

how they dropped zimmerman name in the first ep tho

the deer

It appears as though the deer interacted with the people that were about to disappear. We don't see all of them but the animal was at the preschool that Durst's kids go to and the class room was that of the teacher that's having an affair with her husband. Then the animal ends up at the house of the family with the mentally handicapped adult who also is about to depart and finally the animal is then stopped by the person Kevin has an affair with who subsequently departs herself.

Yeah but what about all the ppl that the deer interacted with that didn't disappear? Like Kevin, the other kids, the parents of the handicapped dude, etc.

yea, not sayin the deer made everyone disappear, just that it was in the vicinity/area of a few of people that disappeared (minus the baby, but the balloon?)

also read a theory that said kevin was the deer
