Would Mase be in Diddy/Hov/Nas territory had he never left the game?

His music was hot and trendy but his buzz would've died down. A NY version of nelly basically.

A. NY. Version. Of. Nelly.

So we gonna act like son didn't rap alongside Big L and Cam, then go on to hold his own on tracks with Big and The Lox?

He arguably spit the best verse on the entire Its Dark And Hell Is Hot album.

Not to derail the thread but he didn't even have the best verse on the song let alone X's album. Lol

mase was dope but i don't think he would of been regarded as someone known for lyrical content like Nas. I also don't think you can compare Nas and Jay-Z. Nas has an insane catalogue of music jay-z can't mess with. I really don't understand the love for Jay-Z he hasn't put out a solid album in years and in my opinion he has more bad albums than good.

I feel Mase was admired more for his overall swag and appeal rather than his skill on the mic even though he was nice with the rhymes. He was just that smooth, Harlem dude with the laid back flow. I'm a fan of his but definitely wouldn't put him up against those guys.
