I was trying to look this statistic up, but no matter what it just led to racist websites.
I really don't know. I grew up in PG County, MD, and there are def lots of hoods, but def lots of nice areas too. So my experience is living in a huge urban and suburban area where you have the whole spectrum. If anything I see more Black kids from nice homes simply acting like their neighborhood is the hood, even though I am well aware of the reality of the hood and the fact that there are ALOT of people dealing with problems that come from being forced to live there.
I really don't know how to word this, but I have been wondering this for a long time. I don't think most or more than half of Black people are from or in the hood, but it just seems like culturally if you aren't then you aren't a real Black person.
Does what I'm typing make any sense? Are there more Black kids TRYING to come off as hood as opposed to actually being from the hood, or is Black America really mostly in the hood?
