Victory! Nevada's last rancher gets his 'stolen' cattle back after federal agents agree to back down

Read the article and I could not find a reason why he shouldn't have to pay the $1.1 million he owes for using lands that don't belong to him.

Why is it acceptable to show up wearing camouflage and carrying rifles to protest agents carrying out a federal court order in this instance?

Well it was his land at first since 1932, GOv want the land for whatever reason may be and they tried to tax him beyound what he was already paying and they said they are saving the turtles..lol

Think they wanted to tax him like 1k a cattles. He have 1,000 cattles. basically they just want the land

From what I understand it is public land managed by the federal govt. which imposed grazing fees to prevent overgrazing and for conservation of wildlife. Every other rancher there and in similar areas in the country has to pay this grazing fee. Why should he get to show up with guns and get out of paying?

They charge him $1.35 per month per cow and son hasn't paid in over 20 years. He owes $1.1 million now and I will bet we haven't seen the last of this. Not to mention environmental groups plan on suing the federal govt for not enforcing the laws in this case.

^From what I read, he believes he OWNS that land. They've been in dispute about that since 1993. The government says the land is theres and if you want to graze, you can pay us. So they want 20 years in back payments.

This won't end well.

EDIT: I guess I read it wrong. I guess he had grazing rights all this time and he was paying? Then they wanted to protect the land so they imposed even higher grazing fees? In his mind, his families been grazing there for years.. why the change now?

Couldn't care less about the story, but what Im interested in is the "militia" vs gov't part... **** is gonna heat up real soon. That gun grab that's in the works (UN arms treaty & dianne feinstein bill) is gonna leave a lot of dudes helpless, but you have a percentage who don't trust the gov't at all (can't say I blame them) , aint puttin down them guns for nothin and holdin on to that second amendment tightly :nerd:

Exactly why i posted this.. Just to test out. People will make 80 pages out of a  negative thread or something that have to do with race but when it comes to your freedom and liberty, people like ahh i dont care..

I like it. People standing up for their land.

He has a legal claim its called Adverse Possesion. If you have been using land, exclusively, hotstily, countinous, openly and actually for a certain amount of time, usually ten-twenty years, then you have a legal claim to the land.
