Everytime I try to explain this to my American friends they come with rebuttals. The stuff they say is stuff why I say it too "at the end of the day you're just getting the same amount you put in back so why not save on your own" but that feeling of getting that huge sum at once just feels different.

I have never done it myself though, its way more common amongst Haitians than Jamaicans from what I've but I have a lot of Haitian friends and relatives through marriage.

I really had no idea homeowners insurance was so shifty, I need to start cataloguing my things.

My response to people who say "at the end of the day you're just getting the same amount you put in back so why not save on your own" , do you have that amount now? Usually it's no. Lol

I was against it at the beginning but it pretty obvious I was not going to be able to save up 4 stacks by myself, it is a good thing.

Im against it now because I believe it made my house a target.

Im shocked you're Jamaican anti, you got a lot of simp in you and most JA are cut throat pimps

EVIL little bastards >:

Had no idea the English term for it was called Su Su.

Everyone needs to make a list of their belongings write down serial numbers take video of your stuff

This is a good idea.

Yup, only serial # I had was from my PS4 and thats cause I had the box

Nothing has shown up in pawn shops yet.

Been running into dudes in the hood selling sneakers but none of what I had :smh:

I took pics of the serial #s for all the TVs and PS4 and everything else now. I had Allstate and Farmers when the break ins happened. I hadn't had policies for long, so I got back way more than I put in. And keep lots of pics.

This.

I work in insurance, so I can attest that you should take pics of the things you own and the labels with serials and everything if at all possible.  Also a good idea to take pics of the items in your place as they are day to day.  Put them in cloud storage with whoever you use, apple, google or whatever.  If you bought anything on credit or debit, pull the records.  If you buy cash, consider taking pics of your receipts if you don't keep them and storing them remotely as well.

As far as cash goes, most insurance companies have a cash limit for the basic reason that cash on hand in your home cannot be verified and fraud is a serious business.  There are people that buy receipts from websites to claim items fraudulently, so keep in mind that it's best to have various forms of documentation.

Jewelry has limits most of the time as well, so if you have anything of decent value you should consult your insurer about getting separate coverage for each of those items.

And make sure you are cool with shelling out your deductible, if you aren't you should really opt to pay a higher premium.  Otherwise, when your deductible eats up most of what you are claiming you really have nobody to blame but yourself.

Lastly, understand that the insurance company expects you to replace the items you are claiming.  If you report it and they accept it, they might only give you the actual cash value of the item and hold on to the remainder until you replace it and submit documentation to release the rest of the money for replacement.

Sorry to hear you got taken OP, hopefully it all gets squared away.

Great news. Hopefully something comes of it. Keep us posted.

Sorry to hear that elpablo21 elpablo21 :smh:

My home was burglarized a couple months back. They got flats and about 200 pairs of sneakers. I know whose responsible and everything. Good thing I have a family. Had the itch to mount up and ride out. But the thought of possibly being away from them, over something not worth it, got to me.

Hope you're able to recover some your things. If not, you still have what's important, life. Wish you well.

Why not tell the cops who did it?

People don't believe in "snitching"

^Even worse than that is the fact that people dont even know what "snitching" means anymore.
(Not directed towards you, just a general thought.)

House gets broken into and you call the cops =/= snitching.
Somebody's house down the street that you dont know gets broken into; you call the cops and tell them everything from the robber's name to where they live = "snitching"

Snitching is running your mouth about something that has absolutely nothing to do with you not the other way around.

Hey I can get the IP address for you, I can get the IP adress  but we got to get a little sneaky...  Are you able to send a message to your account so that whoever using it will read it? Do you have a new PS that you can message from or add yourself as a friend to your new account? Do you have a friend that can send a message to your account?

Also the police will get the IP address, they want to because usually where a stolen good is located more stolen goods are there which leads to a bigger bust which makes the detective look good

Actually your wrong

Snitching originally and the true meaning means say me and you do a crime or are doing crimes together and I get caught. If I tell on you  or am a informant then I'm snitching

Actually, as usual, you're wrong.

The original meaning of “snitch” was “a fillip on the nose,” a “fillip” being what we would today call a “flick” with one’s finger or a light, sudden slap of the hand, and then evolved
to serving as slang for the nose itself. And this was the key development in the evolution of “snitch” as slang for “informer.” The nose has long been used as a symbol of intrusion into others’ business (e.g., a busybody is described as being “nosy”), and the image of a police dog or bloodhound “sniffing out” crime or tracking criminals has been a staple of popular culture for centuries. “Nose,” in fact, has been underworld slang for a spy or informer since the late 18th century.

So snitch as we know it, since the 1800s has meant informant. Not necessarily a criminal that did a job and is trying to get himself out of trouble by telling on the other people involved.
That informant may noit have had anything to do with said job, but is still a snitch.

Get it now?

Call the detective and they'll have to get a subpoena and then they will contact Sony/SCEA to follow the proper steps in order to release the IP address, physical address, etc.

lol at your ancient definitions.

Snitching is giving ANY incriminating information.

if you got into a situation with someone and run your mouth to authority, you are snitching.
