He knowingly aided in a crime, making him a criminal. Keeping him in a box is keeping one more criminal off the street, like CreateDestroy said, "let him rot."

He's a dummy for lending them his car to do a burglary though.

But the situation (what we initially thought it was) still seems like it could happen. Dumb rule.
