Pharrell's "Happy" is the greatest song of the past 24 years.

Y'all dudes never cease to amaze me. Day in and day out y'all post about how you "don't understand how anybody can hate this song"

or "if you don't like this song you must _____" Personal preference just goes out the window on NT, I know that, but damn it's really bad in here.

Dudes on one side of the extreme or the other. I personally am not a fan of the song, but the message is great. Everybody wants to be happy, can't knock that, this song just doesn't do it for me.

song is groovy. i put it on my phone cuz i have a tendency to struggle with depression from time to time. it helps

I think people are missing the point here. This record is a great record. Not just a Northern America record but a world wide record and deserves To be debated as one of the best in the last 24 years.

I see songs you guys name that are great which I rock with but outside of this forum who else you think knows the songs some of y'all naming better yet artists.

This song is world wide. Makes people feel happy had a great video and can be played anywhere. From adult events to children's parties. In sport venues to business offices. No shade but I seen someone say Fancy and on the grand scale it's a great record but you can't do that with that record . With happy you can and I think that's where ppl have missed the point of the debate.

OP swinging his opinion around like it's fact. ...every song, no matter how popular it is at the moment has a shelf life.

This.

I get if people don't like the song, I'm not trying to force my opinion on anyone.

When I said "I don't understand how people can hate on the song", I didn't mean "This song is amazing, how do people not like it"

I haven't heard an opinion other than "it's everywhere" or "too simple".

If the song didnt blow up there'd be a huge "Happy/Pharell is underrated" type thread. NT just loves to hate lol.

Song is cool and strictly off the message and what AgentMK9 said about it being able to be played virtually anywhere, puts it in the debate of the greatest song in the past 24 years. Not saying i agree or disagree with that but I can't argue that it shouldnt be in that category.

exactly how I expected a thread like this to go on NT...

The turn on Pharrell is approaching

Not gonna turn on skateboard p but I probably wont be checking for his new music anymore. im just not feeling his recent work

Wasn't this song made for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack last summer? The fact that it's made it this far speaks volumes. Not sure if I can sit here and say "greatest song since 1990" but its definitely a great song.

ScroogeMcBuckz ScroogeMcBuckz - repped for the Man in the Mirror reference because that's my joint .. but that was 1988

The song is dope. Timeless.

It seems like people are scared to like it. People are scared to let themselves go, show emotion, and actually be "happy."

The video makes me like the song even more. It shows people that have disabilities, are obese, and are poor... all things that could possibly prevent people from being happy... actually enjoying a moment of pure joy regardless of their circumstances.

I understand that music is subjective... but if a person can't let this song take them to that happy place, I kind of feel bad for them because it is a great place and a great feeling.

right on time with the "oh no y'all just don't like the song because [insert personal problem]"

like, c'mon man what? i don't like the song because it doesn't do anything for me

sonically. it's not a bad song and i can tolerate it. i don't hate it......but i have no problem

being happy nor have i ever been scared to like a song.

Like I said later in my post... music is subjective. If you don't like it, cool. You may not be an example of the type of person I am describing.

With that being said, lets not act that person does not exist.

you're right those people definitely do exist.

i'm more so talking about the idea behind your comment and its constant usage

more so than you personally. in almost every NT Music thread people make the

claim that if you don't like the song they like it's because of some personal problem

that's not allowing you to experience it right...it's overdone because some people can't

understand that music is so subjective. but you clearly get where i'm from so like i said

i'm not really coming at you per say.

Thankfully, my happiness is not derived from music.

And I can't stand the song. Period. But I've actually never even seen the video.

I don't need to personally sing or hear someone sing "because I'm happyyyyyyyyyy" or let a song take me to "that happy place" to be happy

Only 25m views on youtube? Girl bye.

*edit just saw the other version with 180m views :x

So now we're splitting hairs to make points. Music is subjective, people will react differently to for a multitude of reasons. I'm not going to say you've never been through anything in life if you don't like dru hill 5 steps, some just might not care for it.

For the record, I can do without happy thanks to pharrells awful vocals. It's like hearing michigan j. frog sing rock with you.
