Hopefully he's just trying to be a nice guy and that's it.

If he re-signs Pau, I really, really, start to question Mitch as the GM going forward. I rather save the damn money than spend it on Pau.

Unless he's spending it on Pau to get into the top 5 of the draft next year. :nerd:

mitch is about to offer pau a 5 yrs 80 mill contract with a no trade clause. if it goes down, please stay safe.

I think MDA stays. Lakers paid Kobe ton of money to shut up, roster can now really be tailored around his system, Mitch very complimentary.

See, this is all countering what we see/hear/read.

If Mitch IS going to build around MDA's system, then why stay open to Pau? Pau doesn't want to fit into this system, then move on.

And if he does go with MDA, then I think Gordon is the pick at 6-7, provided he makes it to that point.

 @ watching an exit interview to gather intel, or to pick up on ANYTHING

I'm telling you, the only thing I get from exit interviews... or any kind of interview, post game conference, anything... the only thing I get from those things is that I'm watching a player who knows how to talk. Period. Nothing more.

I don't think anyone was watching to specifically gather intel. At least I hope not.

Some of the stuff that was said was interesting and worth mentioning on here, but of course to be taken with a grain of salt, as with anything said in front of 20 reporters. On the subject of Pau, what Mitch said lines up with that report from a few days ago which is... disturbing :x

But the interviews with Nash & D'antoni had a lot of interesting conversation not related to the Lakers' future. MDA had some stuff to say about analytics & a changing game which I wanted to hear more about.

So I don't feel like reading....

Someone take me thru the draft and how exactly it works...

Hopefully this explains some

The NBA will give out 1,000 combinations of four ping pong balls to the 14 lottery teams. In sixth position, the Lakers will get 63 combinations, giving 6.3% odds of landing the top pick, 7.1% the second and 8.1% the third.

In total, the Lakers have a 21.5% chance of moving up to the top three. After the first three selections, the remaining 11 teams slot in order of record, worst to best.

The Lakers can't move up to four or five. The odds of staying at six is 43.9%. The Lakers also have a 30.5% chance of dipping to seven, 4.0% of falling to eight but just 0.1% of falling to nine.

http://www.latimes.com/sports/laker...lottery-20140417,0,849416.story#ixzz2zHBzSfXW

The lottery will be held on May 20th and will only determine the top-three picks in the 2014 NBA Draft based on the ping-pong combinations drawn that day. Once those three teams are selected, the rest of the draft order is based on the records of the remaining teams in the lottery pool.

Because the Jazz and Celtics tied for 4th worst, they evenly split the combinations designated for the 4th and 5th spots (207 - 103 each, with one extra). The coin flip determined who got the one extra.

Former Laker point guard Smush Parker finds himself in a bit of controversy.

Last week, during a pickup basketball game at Basketball City at Pier 36, Parker punched high schooler Wolfgang Novogratz a 6’2, 185 pound star guard at Brooklyn’s Poly Prep.

According to Pagesix.com, the incident was escalated due to some tough, physical play during the game:

Wolfie scored back-to-back baskets on Smush,” said my source. “At the other end, Smush went up for a shot. There was a hard foul, and they both went down. Smush got up and punched Wolfie in the face.”

Novogratz, son of HGTV reality TV stars Robert and Cortney Novogratz, was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. He is also declining to press charges against the former Laker

People.

And I find it amusing.

I'm so conflicted on whether I want the team to suck again next season (landing a top five pick) or compete for wins (but likely fall short of the playoffs).
