"Casual marijuana use linked with brain abnormalities, study finds" via Fox News.

An 8th a day is a lot. But really that is like 4 fat jays for me and a snapper or two before bed. I guess I'm usually smoking with a roommate or two though. So I retract that no way in hell I burn 3 grams solo.

Yeah when I quit sleeping sucked but I have sleep issues as it is so I don't know how much of it was from green. My lungs and memory are the same. I put on maybe 10 much needed pounds for some reason too.

bout to do a case study right now. :smokin

I think more people would be open to discussing the negative side effects of marijuana if it were legal like other, WAAY more harmful drugs,
that they promote every day on tv. Its clear to anyone with common sense that there is an agenda when it comes to those whose oppose it's legalization.

On one hand you have a drug like Celebrex which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used for the relief of pain, fever, swelling,
and tenderness caused by arthritis, and is advertised hundreds of times daily.
The commercials even recommend that you ask your doctor if the drug is right for you, right before the micro machines man comes on and starts spitting out a long list of side effects, that you could experience if you take the drug. And those side effects have happened to enough people that the drug maker has to make a disclaimer about it. In other words, they already know that this is going to happen to some people, and they still sell it anyway.

They even tell you:
"Stop using celecoxib and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as:

chest pain, weakness, shortness of breath, slurred speech, problems with vision or balance;
black, bloody, or tarry stools;
coughing up blood or vomit that looks like coffee grounds;
swelling or rapid weight gain;
urinating less than usual or not at all;
nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes);
skin rash, bruising, severe tingling, numbness, pain, muscle weakness; or
severe skin reaction -- fever, sore throat, swelling in your face or tongue, burning in your eyes, skin pain, followed by a red or purple skin rash that spreads (especially in the face or upper body) and causes blistering and peeling.
Less serious side effects may include:

upset stomach, diarrhea, bloating, gas;
dizziness, nervousness, headache;
runny or stuffy nose, sore throat; or
mild skin rash."

Meanwhile marijuana has PROVEN to be effective in the treatment of arthritis and the other rheumatic and degenerative hip, joint and connective tissue disorders,with a VERY MINIMAL list of side effects.

Not only that, Marijuana has also been shown to have powerful immune-modulation and anti-inflammatory properties,suggesting that it could play a role in treating arthritis, and not just in symptom management.

In other words, Marijuana is better at treating arthritis that Celebrex, but one is celebrated and the other is demonized.
It doesnt make sense, until you start to look the profit potential of each medicine.

It will always be more lucrative to treat a symptom than to prevent a problem. Not to mention the fact that alot of these companies are under the umbrella with other drugs that treat the side effects from the drugs they offer. Its big business.

Have you ever heard of Synergy?

One of the many benefits of ending the War on Drugs would be the fact that we could have better scholarship about the effects of those now illegal narcotics.

Right now, very little research can be done on illegal drugs and to make matters worse, even the most scrupulous of studies will be tainted by politics. Anything that finds harm, will be championed by prohibitionists and dismissed by those of us who favor legalization.

If narcotics were legal, we could study their medical effects, good, bad or neutral and we could digest those findings without having them distorted by the prism of political and legal debates.

As far as this study is concerned, it is probably true. Cannabis is not harmless, especially to developing brains. However, we should not have to prove that it is harmless in order for it to be legalized in all 50 States. Cannabis, Cocaine, Heroin, et al. should be treated like almost everything else. Narcotics should be like peanut butter, sky diving, off roading, sailing, kayaking, eating pretzels and be legal even though they are not totally safe, for all people, at all times.

Must agree. I've been knocking down 3 grams avg. bout every day for the past month.

Every night I always tell myself im going to cut back..... Until im with the homies.
Damn homie you smoke almost an 1/8th a day? Id say you should def cut back. That's just a lot of smoke to be taking in....aside from the effects.

damn i thought my almost 7 a week was bad

.3 - .5 a day.

Everything cool in moderation. :pimp:

thats a solo raw cone & thats 2 a day at least

.3 - .5 a day.

I feel like even .5 a day is a lot. But everyone is different. I guess an 1/8th a week isn't all that much. Depends a lot if you're smoking by yourself at home at night or sharing it with others.

All BS aside I need to quit smoking altogether...

...and get edibles in my life.

Yep. I'm happy with my Magic-Flight.

A friend of mine has a volcano and it's :pimp:

I haven't had the pleasure of hitting the volcano yet. I use a MFLB on the go and an SSV at home and I'm really happy with it.

"This is just a structural study. The next logical step is to figure out how these structural changes relate to behavior and functional outcomes such a memory or reward or motivation," Dr. Gilman said.

Also, 11.2 joints/week is over 1.5 joints/day. "Causal Marijuana Users.'

Yea the usage classifications always confuse me. I remember reading a study that classified heavy users as smoking 20 js a day... Wth id be cruising around in zombie mode

Yeah idk why they use joints to measure. I roll joints weird as hell. I out a gram in a small paper with a roller. That way they burn slow like a cig. But they last through a whole movie if you put them out half way.

Yo, what do some of you guys do for work and do they drug test? I know MLPSDunk has his own business but what about the rest? :nerd:
