"Casual marijuana use linked with brain abnormalities, study finds" via Fox News.

Well whats interesting is that even moderate, or minimal use, shows that the brain is affected. This is counter to the popular notion that smoking occasionally is not a big deal.

Ive done my fair share of the feel goods, but stopped the past few years. I went from a 3.1 student to a 3.9 gpa student, and just get so much more done these days.

Now i dont even enjoy the feeling much. Not to say it doesnt have its place in society. Its just overhyped imo. Drinky wine in small amounts is good too.

20 patients?

I'm surprised an elite university like Northwestern would produce this. This one chick I know from there is embarrassed/pissed

Y'know what? Don't write this off as a Fox News slander job.

As marijuana smokers we've got to be able to handle criticism, especially if that critique might be legitimate.

We talk often about the medicinal properties of marijuana, let's let the other side have its day. Why be ignorant? This isn't a FOX research study, this is a study that was done by Northwestern University and Dr. Hans Breiter.

Let's be objective here, and look at this with an open mind.

You autistic?

Its 2014

Do you honestly believe this is the first time someone studied the effects of pot? For hundreds of years reports like this have been written... Yet theres never any conclusion that its harmful. Certaintly not to the levels of drugs like alcohol and tobacco

I always go into these studies with curiosity. People have been trying to put something negative on pot smoking for ever to keep it from being legal.

But seriously come on

According to Breiter, all three were abnormal in the casual marijuana users

So the THREE casual smokers showed abnormality in their memory.

Because these brain regions are central for motivation, the findings from Northwestern help support the well-known theory that marijuana use leads to a condition called amotivation. Also called amotivational syndrome, this psychological condition causes people to become less oriented towards their goals and purposes in life, as well as seem less focused in general.

We have a scientific term for being lazy now
The article is written pretty sensationally.
Like come on

Given these eye-opening results

There are also no mention of the long term effects. It just says that they would be interested to know if people stop smoking what happens. So the casual users you did the study on...how long have they been casual users? I guess this is just a preliminary study to be further looked into to, but seems like they jumped to a lot of conclusions here.

Meh. I need to stop using everyday though.

I got so high last night I had no motivation to do anything. I didn't even want to get off my couch and go to bed...or maybe I was tired after work.

Regardless, I'm getting ready to roll up and watch First Take :nthat:

Pretty much the entirety of yesterday in a nutshell.

Had to come home to grab my backpack to head to the library and finish my paper... Had to look my grandma straight in the eye STONED.

Then went to the library and did absolutely nothing. Came home and crashed. Now have a 6 page paper due in... 5 hours, just got the intro

Came home hungry, wanted to smoke first, got so high didn't even want to cook or go get food, just stayed on the couch and watched Seinfeld, just muched on a bunch of muchie foods till I got full, rolled another and went to sleep

weed can kill ambition

CAN BECOME A EXPENSIVE HABIT

Every now and then.....cool.......daily..... HELL NO

Not for me. I don't even feel like leaving the house sometimes except for work. Addictive? I burned a lot and out it down cold turkey no problem. Sativa bruh. Sativa...

Marijuana only affects you when you smoke strains that don't fit you. If your an already lazy person you need not to smoke Heavy Indicas. If your an active person you should stick to Sativa's or indicas on certain days to relax and wind down.

I'm a sativa smoker. That couch lock life ain't for me.

Vioxx, Vicofin, Xanex, Adderall. Just a short list of legal drugs that not only will change an MRI scan, theses are known to kill users. These drugs are still on the market today. There are many studies on the effects of Cannabis. It would be smart to familiarize oneself and get educated regarding what we consume.
