Video Game Dudes: Did Yall Have A Neo-Geo Dude In Your Neighborhood?

My cousin actually had a Neo Geo and I had a Game Gear.

I was probably going thru like $50 worth of batteries a week playing that thing,

That Neo Geo console was stupid rare! The price tag was ridiculous too, it was a few months rent to my parents

Anyway, I was happy with my NES and Sega Genesis. Both still work and it's fun hunting for games at flea markets and second hand stores.

.
I once had a friend in elementary school who claimed he was so good in FF7 that Square flew him to Tokyo and he came back with a copy of FF15 and KH4 (when KH1 just came out). He claimed he knew the entire story, everyday we'd ask him to bring it in or even the manual. Everyday we got the same answer "Oh I forgot", school yard rumors for video games were the best
      The hell?

I actually played a Neo Geo 3 times.
My cousin had a friend that lived in his neighborhood who had one. He also had a full length basketball court in his back yard. His dad was a doctor.
Dude had Samurai Showdown and World Heroes.

After the first time we went over dude's house I used to beg my mom to let me spend the night over my cousin's house so we could go over and play it.

I cant remember his name cause he was African and it was an unusual name, but I just remember the last time we went over there, we stayed over
his house literally all day. From 11 A.M til about 7:30 ish, and his mom had to kick me and my two cousins out.
After that we were never invited back over. At least I wasnt :frown:

What???

Anyways...I heard about Neo Geo, but NEVER saw it. However, I think the Fuddruckers down the street from my cousins house had a Neo Geo system in their arcade. I'm pretty sure of it.

Most offbeat game system I "owned" was a SegaCD. Reason why owned is in parenthesis is because I borrowed it from my boy and never gave it back.

:smoking

I was the only one on my block that had this back in the day...Think it's still at my father's crib

I was one of the few with both a Sega Saturn and Game Gear. Only had 1 game on the Saturn though. Vitrua Fighter. Closes I've ever gotten to a Neo Geo was at the arcade.

I know people that "had" a neogeo but never played it. Damb liars  :smh:

I am fortunate that I played a lot of neogeo classics on arcades though

Nah never played a Neo-Geo but I played it like at an arcade or something where it had a few games built into it if I remember correctly.

I knew a kid that had a game gear and it was pretty alright can't lie.

Then that same kid bought a Sega Dreamcast and had a few dope games on that too.

I remember he used to be tight trying to get the different systems from what's popular like Nintendo and then when the system failed and they stop supporting it he would be salty

Dude grew up to be really weird too like he's a hermit or something and just sits in his house all day and never comes out and has his beard and facial hair grown out like them hill billy Duck Dynasty dudes.

I remember being lied to about "Nudalities" in Mortal Kombat 3. Some dude at recess actually had me believing that there was a button Combo that would make Kitana take her clothes off and would cause the opponent to have their eyes pop out and them explode out of sheer hornyness.

To be young, dumb, and horny. I miss those days

He would be like oh everyone got a gb/gba but i got that limited game gear...and its color and 32 bit while yall got that lame 16bit nintendo handd held...

He was like that when everyone had a nes/snes or genesis...he be like oh thats wack son i got that turbographx/neo geo its the limited jawn to nyc exclusives son. We just be like man wtfe that ish is wack dude...

And when they stop making games for it etc... he be like oh well cause its limited edition...or my fam didnt get me know games cause they havent been back to ny yet... you name it he got it that was wack... lynx, saturn, 3do etc....

lol i rember that... kids would always make up some type of code or something for a game... then you would have them over and ask them to do it and then theyd be on some oh i dont remember it all... i dont know it like that...or my cuz.cuz friend knows it and did it once...

That or those mysterious games ala oh there is a street fighter with fatalities... or the oh snes mk has blood but you gotta put in aa special code lol.... or like nba jam...oh there is a code to get mj.. stuff like that... Without internet being big and mainstream ppl could just pretty much bs and makeup all kinda lies..

Oh and one thing i miss about videogames is button/keypad combos for codes annd/or secret modes or levels... Now they pretty much replaced all that with dlc's

I had a N-Gage which blew mines everyday at school. My uncle bought it and didnt like it so he gave it to me it was actually my first cell phone. Only game I ever owned was call of duty it was awful but the graphics at the time for a handheld was crazy. Had the Cingular prepaid boomin :pimp: :pimp:

Never knew anyone with a Neo Geo. The price back then was crazy. Dreamcast and genesis for me.
ish would be crazy now they had a 800 and a 600 dollar models... 100-150 for games... 80 bucks for a controller. Ppl wouldnt even pay that now for a system and games etc... ish was uncalled for and ridiculous 20+ yrs ago

That, imo, is equivalent to saying that people payed thousands of dollars for a computer in those days and they don't even pay that now. Technological advancement isn't cheap.

but a cpu was and still is a "must have" quintessential part of just about everyone lives... Its like gas etc... And when you look at the neo geo it wasnt even superior in terms of gameplay/graphics over its competition... I mean i get what your saying but neo geo today would be like xbox one costing 500 and ps4 costing like 800/900 bucks.. in comparison to snes and genesis... I mean neo geo was 24 bit granted but that isnt that much superior to snes/genesis 16bit systems.. not to cost 3 times as much

had everything except the NEO GEO ... my mom was not bout that life ... i remember spazzing out like that **** was from the future and i needed it to survive

you're one of the only people I've seen that actually had a Sega CD... that may have been the biggest swindle in gaming history... what was the default game called, like SewerShark or some **** like that? I had the "Cowboys vs 49ers" game which should have been illegal to sell... who the **** wants to play a game where all you do is call plays and watch some old *** clip from the 80's over and over again... smh
