I see this sentiment pop up from time to time but never in reference to any other sport.

I think its ********, absolute ********.

The general public cant identify with a quintessential NBA player. Therefore, "bad product".

Thugs.

In all seriousness. I hate that argument and it only started arising in the late 90s when........well, u know.

Cause it's the cool thing to say. Outside of the awful officiating and flopping, I'm pretty sure I enjoy basketball just as much as I did in the early 90's when I was taking posters from Slam magazine and drawing team logos. I do feel like the season should be shortened by 10-15 games and have them more spread ou though. I didn't notice it before to know whether it took place way bad, but watching some of these teams play 4 games in 5 nights is brutal, with an obviously fatigued team playing some well rested team.

Because half the league makes the playoffs. And the playoffs last for like 2 months.

When the NBA was enduring a lockout a couple of years ago all of my die-hard MLB friends were rejoicing. Even this one kid said if we wanted to watch a game that we should go to a park to watch people play which made no sense to me. I can't put a finger on it, some people really just wish the NBA would go away.

Me personally I feel like the NBA should contract and take away one team from each division but the NBA can't afford for that to happen. There aren't many people like me who enjoy every sport for what it is |I

The NFL and MLB has horrible inconsistent officiating as well.

NBA is the only sport where bad officiating can and often does directly lead to points...

BTW, there are a million people who complain about baseball being 162 games long.

Because a lot of teams in the NBA are terrible and remain so. They never emerge to become title contenders, at best simply also-rans.

Fair enough. Everyone has their preferences.

I use to be a huge NBA fan but basically stopped watching all together about 5 years ago. It just doesn't interest me like it use to.

Playoffs are way too drawn out, quality of play a bit diluted with more teams, no true rivalries or hatred amongst teams because of players constantly switching teams, officials can give and take away Points whenever they feel like it.
