How the hell is the NBA a bad product?

@Kobe4MVP12, I am far from a soccer fan, but I dont agree with you that a dominant superstar basketball player can impact a game more than a dominant soccer player.  Messi and Ronaldo can impact a game just as much as LeBron can.

But the other sports, yes I agree with you.

TBH, I'm not much of a soccer fan either, I just threw it in there with the rest of them

If I really think about it you are right though. Soccer does compare similarly in that fashion, but then again, who really cares about soccer in the US anyway :nerd:

Not knocking soccer as a sport, but obviously it isn't big over here.

a bit of that speed difference is the low fps of 80s cameras

same reason why every nique and jordan  dunk looks like they are floating
Bruh Nique and Jordan wouldn't even be top dunkers in today's league, that's my point. You got bums like Gerald Green and Terrence Ross doing stuff we've never seen before.

The 12th man on every bench in today's league would absolutely WASH the floor with the 12th men of the 80s. Compare the Starting 5s of the most recent Finals with the 80s, 90s, even the early 2000s. So it's both the top and bottom of the league getting better.

Athletes today are just faster, stronger, etc. Players can utilize YouTube and they're playing competitively from an earlier age. There's just so many resources now for players to utilize. The exposure to the NBA has also increased exponentially with the internet, etc. And let's not forget the population has been growing so overall the competition for limited NBA spots is even more fierce.

Look at players like Steph Curry. He is EXPONENTIALLY better than Reggie Miller ever was and he can barely crack the 2nd round of the playoffs, let alone even sniff MVP votes. His handles exceed that of every PG in the 90s.

It's just such a played argument to say the league is bad now when it's really at it's peak.

Waiting for someone to say the NBA has no good big men but doesn't account for the fact that today's big men can shoot 3s at a high clip. It's now the golden age for point guards, etc.

I'll ask you guys this....who was the best player MJ ever went up against? I guarantee whoever you name wasn't as good as Kevin Durant skill-wise. His length, athleticism, shot, etc.. Who the F can we compare him to? NOBODY. LeBron & Durant being this historically hyper-efficient in this era of Kawhi Leonards, Thabo, etc and players that are out to stop them is just ..... unprecedented.

</end rant>

jordan and nique not top dunkers in todays game

you do know the rim was also 10ft tall back then right?

steph curry is a pg, reggie is a sg. their roles are very different, apart from 3pt shooting you cant really compare them as players and its not like reggie was sniffing MVP votes either.

there are outliers like KD in every generation. when has there ever been a sf/pf sized PG that dominated the league like magic? or a guy as big and skilled as shaq? or wilt? KD is just this generations athletic freak combined with a lot of basketball talent.

kobe dominated the modern era, so how can you even begin to say MJ wouldnt be great in todays game?

the game changes and in every era there are all time greats that would be great in any era. the starting 5s of recent finals are nothing special compared to the great teams in nba history.

If Shaq in his prime came back today he'd basically be Mason Plumlee

Jordan wouldn't even be able to touch rim.

Dominique would be like 5ft 2

I never said MJ wouldn't be great so please don't misconstrue what I'm saying: I'm saying the talent of today's league is better than it has ever been. Would Magic, MJ, etc be high level players in today's league? Sure, they were transcendent talents. But the same can be said about Durant, LeBron, CP3, Curry, etc.

Your Curry point is semantics. Ray Allen was better than Reggie Miller ever was and Curry is on the way to breaking all of Ray Ray's records, in an era of hyper-athletic wing players and point guards. Curry being a PG and being able to get 'off' in the golden era of point guards proves my point completely. Meanwhile, you had Reggie playing in an era of watered down guard play (LOL @ John Starks / Ehlo / etc).

With regards to you naming the 3 most freakish athletes of all time: LeBron > Magic skill-wise, see how quick that was? The fact that you had to name 1 player from every genre and I have a trump card of LeBron AND Durant (CP3, Kevin Love, Harden, etc also say hello) in the same era just adds fuel to my rant fire. When did 7 footers start shooting 3s? Who shot 3s at a Bosh, Love, etc rate back then...Sam Perkins? LOL.

Am I saying that Shaq would be a Dwight in today's league? No, Shaq would be Shaq. But the fact that the converse is argued (that today's players couldn't compete in previous eras) is what really makes no sense. Like every single sport has evolved, but somehow the NBA gets the worst rap in terms of that.

Just look at high school mixtapes...you got kids with more bounce and dunks than Nique AND Jordan. So please **** with that rim is still 10 feet crap. The rim is still 10 feet so show me anyone from the 80s, 90s, even 2000s that was 7 feet and dunking like DeAndre does today.

Again, my point isn't that yesterday's era was terrible (I'll save that argument for another day), my point is that today's era is undeniably great and talented.

You're serious aren't you.... :smh:

The NBA is about to have one of the best draft classes in a decade, and people *****ing about needing to improve fundamentals and teamwork. :rolleyes

One draft clase...One. Surrounded by many years of crap and dissapointment.

Durant
Love
Davis
Cousins
Westbrook
Curry
Griffin
Harden
Drummond
George
Kyrie
Wall
Lillard

All 25 years old or younger. The league is not exactly lacking great young players, in fact this is probably the best group of young guys we've had in at least 20 years.

If you think recent draft classes have been "crap and disappointment" it's probably because you're a bitter Wolves fan who's upset that your favorite franchise did things like draft three point guards in the first round, trade the best of the three (Lawson) and pass on the best one in the draft (Curry). Don't be mad your franchise failed to build a competent team around Kevin Love just like it failed to do so for KG.

Everyone should read this post multiple times.

But players today can't shoot. No one plays defense. Refs don't let players tackle each other anymore. Players are selfish. Etc

Lol

As 2nd, 3rd, 4th tier guys isn't too bad either I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of players.

My only displeasure with the league is the officiating and the abundance of ticky-tac fouls especially for the superstars and the long *** playoffs after that it's pretty entertaining still.

I'm sick of the 'NBA cares' commercials, if anything. And I might punch a wall if I see another Cliff Paul and Blake Griffin Kia commercial, but the NBA is putting out good product.

not a ******* chance

NHL > NBA.

For a lot of fans, it comes down to a complete lack of effort in the NBA.
