How the hell is the NBA a bad product?

I been watching the NBA for as long as I can remember and this season was weakest regular season I can remember. Mainly cuz the Eastern Conference is so garbage. As far as the East if Miami or Indiana wasn't playing I wasn't watching, straight up. Maybe that doesn't make me a real fan or whatever, IDC. I have no interest in the East until the conference finals. The West is a different story, they got a lot good/entertaining teams in the West. That's really my only problem with the NBA.

Still the rest of the series to play, but the Pacers have been playing terribly for a long while now. I don't consider it too stunning.

NHL > NBA.

For a lot of fans, it comes down to a complete lack of effort in the NBA.
Effort?  That's idiotic.

People who say that about the NHL vs. NBA have one thing on their mind only.  You know—they prefer hardworking High IQ type guys as opposed to the lazy, talented athletes of the NBA

In reality NBA players work and play extremely hard, though that may not fit some peoples' stereotypes.

What a pathetic excuse, but I've come to expect this from NikeTalk. Watch some NHL playoffs today vs the NBA games and come talk to me about effort.

I love College Basketball more than any other sport, so miss me with BS. NBA has sucked since the early '00's. You ever go to games? I've been to probably 10 in the last two years. BORING AS F.
...of course you do.

they just play so much harder there, you know?

They do. Every game means something. Are you seriously suggesting the NBA is anywhere near as exciting today as it was in the late 80's / early 90's?

All I'm suggesting is that NBA players play hard, as hard as any other sport.  People who say NBA players are "lazy" it's usually just an outlet for their stereotypes.  And they always point to NHL and NCAA basketball because those are full of corn-fed white boys.

If the NBA is worse now than it was 20 years ago it has nothing to do with the effort of the players...  It's the changes in officiating.

College basketball is awful btw.  You really enjoying seeing people hand the ball off repeatedly at the top of the key for 24 seconds and then take a contested jumper? ...but that's just my personal opinion.

Bro - NBA players do not play as hard as every other sport, at least not for 90% of the game (and season). That's the nature of NBA basketball. It has NOTHING to do with race. The NBA product has a severe lack of defense. The nature of today's NBA doesn't require the players to exert as much effort as NFL or NHL players.

Sure there are things I don't like about the CBB game, but I'd much rather watch it than the NBA, and my team is far from "corn-fed white boys."

I'm 30 FTR.

The race for a playoff spot in the west came down to game 82, I don't understand how anyone can say they don't play hard.

And let's not act like college basketball isn't king for gimmick defenses. You say every game counts in college, but an automatic bid is given away to small conference schools every year. Albany was 9-7 in their conference.

It was a really unexpected upset, but it certainly wasnt a good game to watch.
What's your definition of a good game to watch? I feel like the East gets a bad rap because they don't have uber-exciting teams like the Clippers, Warriors. Not sure why the game having an unexpected result is a bad thing, would you prefer chalk?

Let me ask you this: if ATL/INDY wasn't a 'good' game to watch, was OKC/MEMPHIS? Memphis put up one of the worst shooting performances of all time or is the fact that the other team had 2 of the best players in the league (Russy + KD) enough to overcome Memphis' offensive ineptitude? Is is star-power or competitiveness? Which are you knocking?

I guess I'm just trying to figure out if people have a problem with the East had to do with it not being as exciting or not being competitive (the Hawks just winning should shut some of that noise up). There were 2 upsets in the East yesterday, only 1 in the West, so West = more chalk = more boring? But no one's gonna say that (because saying the West is predictable is not the flavor of the month right now). But check the Vegas sportsbooks, OKC/SAS getting to the conference finals is even more of a lock than INDY/MIA. So really, which conference has a lack of competition?

I'm not trying to be an Eastern conference apologist, I just don't know what people really want. Would it really have been better for the Suns to make the playoffs? If anything, the playoffs should be shortened and less teams should make it...over half the teams in the league make the playoffs as it is, that's far more than the NFL, etc.

And of course, 2 of the East's starting all stars in recent years (Melo + Rose) aren't in the playoffs for differing reasons so the lack of starpower, assuming Phil Jackson does his job, should fix itself in the near future.

Yeah you know exactly why op, sad when our own buys into it.

Relax dude. That whole post was so unnecessary.

Just thought it was a bad basketball game. Poorly played. Had nothing to do with it being am Eastern Conference game. I didnt think the Nets game was a bad game, and that was an Eastern Conference game.

But you're not the only one who has clowned the East. And I am relaxed, figured a forum would be good for discussion but I guess not. Carry on.

You mistake the horrible offensive sets and lack of skill in college for good defense.
