Got a restoration in the other day that's a little bit out of my league!! I consider myself to be a pro but I'm stuck on these!! Any help or advice would be appreciated! I'm doing a full restoration, obviously the typical doing the uppers and clearing the bottoms is are easy and re-gluing everything isn't to hard but I have no clue what to do with this chipped leather?? I've never even seen it before, any and all suggestions are appreciated!!

PL is a treated leather (as you already know) so honestly i dont think it can be fixed but if you had to do it regardless im thinking you could find a beater pair of XIs and maybe cut off some patches off of the donors PL and glue them in and make it look smooth around the edges, you could paint it black and get a good finisher that is high gloss and it should shine like the PL and they will be great for wearing but not gunna get much if you plan on selling them, good luck and let me know what you try and your results.

Buy a yard of BLACK VINYL from a fabric store, VERY similiar to patent leather as for the gloss and look!!!

Not sure how you would apply it but that the closest material to actual patent leather in my experience.
