When I turn my computer on it goes to a black screen and says bootmgr is missing! Has anyone had this problem and knows how to fix it please help!

Did you format your HD? I don't know anything about your problem ... Just getting the thread going.

There is most likely a problem with the HD that has your Operating System on it. Is it a laptop or desktop? Did you install anything recently? Did you notice anything weird before this happened?

Basically you need a windows disk to repair and replace the boot mgr.

Basically the part that tells your cpu how to boot is missing

You can also use those 3rd party repair disk

Pretty much all this.

Problem is your Hard Drive if that's what your computer boots off of.

Edit: And you may have to repair/reinstall windows. Hope you have back ups and if not.. Pepper angus for potential data loss.

Whatever version of windows you're running google it and repair disk in a google search and find a reputable site and burn it to a CD.

Most likely this (srs)

Get a Mac next time.
funny .... Every time I'm at the mall I see a multitude of people hauling in their iMac and laptops. I wonder if they didn't have appointments how full would the store be.

I'm sure window based computers are the same way but since I don't see it I cant make fun.

it's also possible that your hdd is about to die... before you do the restore disk option get an external hdd enclosure and see if you can access it on another pc/laptop

i know that feel OP.

my girl shut down our computer last night and i could not find the power button on our IMAC for about 15 minutes.

Actually you should already have a repair partition on it.. Google it with your model number how to access it. you have to hold down keys while it boots

just looked it up.. Press/hold F11 while the computer boots it will boot up to recovery partition and you can repair the boot

Welp you have to burn some software to a disk but in the meanwhile unplug anything you have connected to it except power cord and see if it boots and screen

Try this as well

1.press/hold f8 when screen comes on

or
Entering Safe Mode from outside Windows
When Windows 8 fails to start properly, you may be prompted to start in recovery mode. When this happens, the Choose an option screen displays. If the Choose an option screen does not display, shutdown your computer. Power on your computer and repeatedly press the esc key until the Startup Menu opens. Begin a System Recovery by pressing F11 , and then use the following steps to open Windows in safe mode.

if those above dont work you will need a windows recovery disk which you can download onto a disk or usb or wrd party software

^^You can actually boot into a windows enviroment with this and use your computer^^^

Burn it to a disk/usb and boot  from it. You will boot into virtual windows and can actually use your browser and computer and get on the internet. Also have repair software
