What are your thoughts around NSW? I just saw a tweet from some sneaker chain saying the Air Bakins was $50 off, didnt these just drop? I feel like its been this way for a hot second, something will drop (OG color) a few people will cop on day 1, then it goes on sale a month later.....

I walked into my local Footlocker and theres 5 colors of foams on the wall, then the 'Yeezys" drop and all hell breaks loose, whats good with that? I mean i understand it gots the "Yeezy" name or whatever, but really? Whats crazy is the box says QS right? I have no idea what made that a QS when HOH's had 75-200 pair?

Are models like the Air Flight 89/Falcon done with? Are they too tired and played out already?

Whats up with Roshe, why the hell does everyone and they mom got a pair? but they are still cool?

I have always been good with a clean pair of AM 1/90/95/ etc, what makes the roshe an everyday shoe, but not the traditional Max's?

What would yall like to see come from NSW?

Im just looking for yall thoughts and input, honest opinion....

I already know, Trolls gonna Troll, Jimmies will be russllleeeeddd

Everyones got an opinion, right?

I think it's safe to say that most of us that frequent Nike Retro have noticed the hype come and go for most of these new NSW retros/releases, as well as the price increasing when it's still not justified.
Personally, I agree with being good with just a pair of Air Max', but I think the Roshe hype kinda stemmed from them just being just a cheap, comfortable shoe, but their demand pretty much took off after that "Yeezy" inspired colorway released last year.
I'm glad that NSW is retroing some of my favorites that hadn't been previously retro'd though, i.e. the Pro Streak's and Air Max 98's

But I'm still waiting for a Flightposite III retro, and then I'll be happy...

BTW,
Right now im actually digging that new Free Orbit 2, to bad its crazy limited.

The lunar orbit 1 are the only shoe to date that i regret passing on. I could not make the purchase at $100 for what looked so simple but elegant at the same time. :smh:

There are many things happening, just a few to mention:

We're seeing a resurgence of innovation on the newer stuff, ie new materials, different fitment, etc.
New stuff with classic vibes, and old retros taking design cues from new goods.
Shift in taste (trends) as the populace of sneaker heads increase, or age.

The same thing happened a while back with the new stuff and retros were highly sought. In terms of comfort, I used to bash on lunar when it first came out, but the new stuff for me hands down beats any of the retro AMs.

NSW still has a bunch of great models and colorways that havent been released yet.

Agreed that the price keeps spiking. Im still lost on the Roshe as usually when everyone gots a shoe on, it slips as people dont want to be seen in the same shoe everyone else has....

"Yeezy" colorways have created buzz among a couple models, when will this hype train slow down? Will Adi's collabs stop the "Yeezy" train on the Nike side?

Air Max 98s are a sneakerhead shoe, the general population is sleeping on them.

I honestly i never even seen the Lunar Orbit 1 until i just not googled it.

Newer innovation, or perceived innovation? what i mean is sometimes you see flywire and think its new and fresh, what if its just cosmetic placement, do you still pay for the "Flywire" upcharge?

Shift in taste, where is the shift headed?

Lunars are comfortable, i just dont feel as smooth as i do with a pair of clean retro AMs lol.

What NSW running models are you looking forward to, or wished they would retro? what about hybrids, are they still relevant?

Agree, not all of it is either innovative or perceived to be innovative. Nike does marketing well, so sometimes the intended purposes of the innovation such as flywire isn't obvious and so it becomes a perceived benefit or innovation. This sort of thing happens in biking as well; people will pay upwards for reduction in ounces yet in reality those ounces might not make a huge difference. A good example of this in Nike is the newer hoops shoes. The elite line ups are using recycled materials (soles, to flywire panels) which means cheaper for Nike to manufacture, and marketed as lighter/more breathable/durable for consumers.

Agree, us older sneaker heads grew up with the chunky soles of the 90s so we'll always have a soft spot for them lol.

As for runners, I think I'm mostly done with retros, but I would like to see more footscapes. Oh and a rererelease of the Spiridons won't hurt either. Hybrids, my first choice would be the Zoom Trainer FT lows, though I'm not sure if these were ever part of NSW.

Nike Sportswear went downhill when Gentry took over. It was my biggest fear when they announced it and I was proven to be right. If not the sneakers, Nike Sportswear had put out great clothes for years prior to his arrival. Now all we get is Don't Sweat My Swag and other garbage to match sneakers that are coming out. He's been a cancer to NSW.

NSW clothing was good before... loopwheeler, white label, gyakusou, made in italy line.... but now all i see are those "swag this swag that" tshirts.

nike is releasing too much crap and the stores have to eat it up just to get 12 to 24 pairs of the stuff that really sells out

don't forget a retail store wholesale on nike/jordan shoes is 53% or it might have went up in the past year to 55% of the box price plus shipping from nike

price drops on stuff besides jordan retro's and some foams have become the norm in a quick amount of time

i didn't buy a non jordan/foamposite shoe until this past month in over 2 years and now i see it works in the buyers favor to buy the non jordans and foams people dont want

stores gotta turn the stuff around that dont move as quick as possible

Yep, I been screaming that. And he has an idiot accomplice Marc Dolce. The few things that have gone right, are far out weigh by the havoc they have caused :smh:

NSW still makes decent clothing, you just have to look for it. Every year it seems like there's euro releases that are really well put together.

That's the problem. Domestic has been screwed over big time while Europe continues to get laced with heat. It wasn't like this stuff was mass produced. Once you missed it, you missed it.

Clothing or shoes, or both?  Size? gets CRAZY Air max exclusives all the time..

they still releasing those though, gyakusou , white label, and next one will be nike FC (celebration of world cup 2014) and windrunner fragment too. the problem is with those cross brand collaboration only available to certain NSW account so not every store will have it

I remember those ill v65 melton jackets nike made in 09, shoot they were fly but costly. I always wanted a large in the black/white. Nowadays it looks like nike is just recycling stuff to make profits and they know they can get away with it. imo some of the stylish destroyers look hotter for brazil, china, and other international countries than new york! i agree some of the better stuff is going international though and humphries is screwing over nike to an extent, bet he was somewhat responsible for influencing or directing the yeezy 2 phenom :smh:

I agree with that, look at what he did to Jordan Brand. Especially the JB clothing, so it makes sense why I kept seeing those wack t-shirts with the "Swag Swag" bs...lol. I remember NSW had some dope clothing but lately I haven't really been seeing much. The greedy increase in prices is effecting things too. I always wonder to myself where's the culture going to go next. I been collecting kicks for years so to see how things changed in such a short amount of time, I wonder what's next. The culture effects how Nike releases their stuff. Are they going to retail kicks for $300+ soon also? It seems to be going in that direction only because people are willing to pay that for certain releases. And they'll throw a few releases out around those prices ranges to test the market and see what'll do. Just something recently that's been running in my mind.
