Is Kanye a top 10 rapper of all-time?

So what are the reasons you guys dislike Yeezus? I didn't like it myself at first but it really grew on me. Almost a year later I still play it regularly.

If anything I'd say it's 808s that would be his least critically praised rather than Yeezus. Yeezus definitely has the biggest divide where it comes to a love/hate relationship given that either people really like it or (as evidenced by the responses) really hate it.

It sucks, but I think if I listened to it 15 times on a loop while flying on a gold private jet upside headed towards France, it would sound pretty good.

It sounds horrible. The noises or just that to me, noise. The lyrics are atrocious. I like Bound 2, partially like I'm In It and Hold My Liquor. I feel nothing when I listen to the album outside of the great Oooo Weee Charliiiee

Some of my favorite recent albums outside of the hip-hop genre are all of Toro y Moi's work, Lorde's Pure Heroine, Sleigh Bell's first album, and Oracular Spectacular.

So I ain't tryna hear that I don't like it because I don't listen to other genre's.

I liked Yeezus *shrug* It wasnt nothing great or fantastic tho. Def at the bottom of his discography. On Sight is the WORST Kanye song ive ever heard tho :x

Damn this thread became the "**** on Yeezus" thread real quick

Yeah Yeezus as an album simply did not deliver for me. Like you make MBDTF, arguably one of the greatest albums of the decade, and then you drop Yeezus? Where they do that at?

I'm not gonna say it was a terrible album, but there were certainly some terrible tracks on that thang.

What made the album worse for me was Zane Lowe riding the tracks ultra heavy and making interpretations that didn't need to be made during his interview

Sounds like a plan to me champ.

LOL.

Lol come on deuce.. I understand you not the biggest ye fan for whatever reason. But you can't even go for mbtdf being one of the best albums of the decade?

Lets be serious champ.  I highly doubt he or just about anybody in here has even listen to or heard EVERY album since the beginning of the decade to even try to make such a claim as "arguably one of the greatest albums of the decade" as that includes music from all genres.

Unless he works for a record label or a music publication and can present his id or name badge as a point of reference for us to even ATTEMPT to believe in that claim, I'm going to have to call him out for the FRAUD and Kanye radical that he is.

"Fraud"?

How am I a "Kanye radical" when I literally posted on the same page that I thought Yeezus was whack?

Have I claimed to work for a musical publication or record label?

More importantly, do I NEED to have either of those credentials in order to have an opinion?

You're the only one blowing my statement out of proportion, champ. I didn't say "of all time", "greatest singular album", etc.

I'm obviously new on this forum but I get the distinct feeling that any and all positive opinions expressed about Kanye West, no matter how miniscule, make you feel some type of way

Take it easy champ

I'd say yes he is right there he's even in the top 5 all-time. The man's not just a lyrical genius he's also a culture changer. No homo here.

Kanye done ascended above hip hop though

Deuce please tell me who's been a better entertainer than Kanye?
Well for starters Prince is still alive champ.  If you don't think or know that he puts on a great show, just ask all of the grown and mature attendees from the Essence Festival this year. Also, if you want someone a bit more "current" in regards to the past decade, a better response would be Justin Timberlake.

Ya'll hating on Yeezus but what did you expect? Kanye is a clever fellow.

How do you follow up MBDTF? You had the whole world praising the album, calling it "perfect." If he attempted to follow up that album with an attempt at perfection again, or a MBDTF part 2, he would undoubtedly fail because human nature would be to compare every line, ever track, every feature, to the classic MBDTF that preceded it. So what does the gawd do? He goes completely left field with Yeezus, completely raw and uncut, cause he knew if he tried anything else it would be considered a failure.

Now the follow up to Yeezus? I'm curious what he's going to do. He's set up again to put out another classic. Similar to how he followed up 808's with MBDTF.
