I believe this to be the case, but I thought Kerry Washington would be the go-to on the basis of attractiveness and success.
Lupita is not unattractive, and I guess I could see the appeal some may have for her, but doesn't strike me as a girl who I'd think about approaching.

She's a professional model bruh, pretty much every single photo she posts will have make-up...but here's as close as I could get... without lighting or set makeup...

The premise for the whole thing is preposterous to begin with. Among all the BILLIONS of women and regardless of the fact that human beauty is thee most subjective thing we can appreciate, one entity, People, an American-based, youth-obsessed magazine most known for promoting and grotesquely overburdening American people with celebrity culture, is listing their choice of ONE person to be labeled as their most beautiful for that year.
It's obvious that it's based on popularity, among other things, like being the "it" girl. Have you ever seen someone not mega-famous on the cover? Ok then. That said, it's People's projection of their notion of beauty onto the American people and the American consciousness. And they picked a dark, graceful, talented, attractive BLACK woman to project. So, without making this more about race then it needs to be, bravo to them for that.

^this chick here! attractive yes. but team dark skin is gone need way more than that to gain Americas desire. I have smashed a chick from team dark skin that looks better than both and there are a few running around. A woman need more than just a cute face, how about some sex appeal, at least for me.

Good for her...however, I'm not going to hate on the next person who disagrees w/ the choice b/c they don't find her attractive. People have preferences. That's all there is to it. No need to get upset because someone else doesn't see beauty in the say way you do.
