I've always wondered--why are they called "wife beaters"?

I always felt so uncomfortable with that term of description...

It's because some actor played a character who abused his wife and he would always wear one so the term wife beater started.

I've gotten in trouble when I called them wife beaters in class before. Never even thought about the term before

When I made the switch from t-shirt to a-shirt it felt constricting but now it feels weird without one.

As under shirt ..it's cold for me often and without it my hard nipples would be showing pics for the beast

Heard your nipples are the only thing on you that gets hard

A-shirt definitely sounds better than wife-beater...

Anyway, I often and regularly wear an A-shirt AND an undershirt together. It's just something that I've always done.

I'm actually wearing a grey A-shirt underneath my undershirt (insert xzibit meme) right at this very moment...

Usually wear one under a white t wit bball shorts chillin in the summer.

I have also learned that wife b + short sleeve button up unbuttoned = trouble

I don't wear them, prefer vests/undershirts because they prevent my deodorant from getting on my t-shirts, button-ups, sweaters, etc.
