It's an absurd deal that could ruin the company. Unless UA has somehow convinced Nikes best designers to switch to the dark side....I don't see it.

Regardless of who becomes the face of Nike basketball....the advertising/marketing campaigns and cutting edge design> who actually wears the shoes...

An athletes endorsement always helps, but if the shoes are pleasing to the eye, they will move.
No it wont ruin the company. That's a drop in the bucket. Like Chris Rock said, if someone can give you that much imagine how much they're making. UA has to prove to the market and buyers that they can produce a shoe that has casual appeal. Although they'll already make their money once stores order product, the people will decide if Durant has appeal outside of Nike. Until the Nerf IV, Durant's line did bad at retail. It's a deal that they'll certainly regret if they don't see their share of the market increase.
This & repped. I actually will agree with this point. I would say do bad, but they weren't doing the best numbers. The KD line didn't really take off until the second half of the KD IV releases. In addition the KD V, weren't exactly flying off shelves. The KD VI is what changed the game.

People are really sleeping on the GGs. I got them today and they are nice.

I dont think anyone slept on these they where just to much unexpected hype no one thought these would sell out they way they did.

So if KD does sign with Under Armour, does that mean they would just immediately stop production of the 7 or would they finish out the model? I don't really understand how the contract works.

I got gg te red elites, I wanna get the 6 but I feel like its to much red shoes at ones lmao

Nah one has white one has gold and these got silver. Totally different. Outsiders just don't get it [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

yep. dudes act like under armour is an upstart mom and pop shop. Lots of ignorant and stupid posts in here. People aren't even seeing the big picture, UA wants to expand into China. At $85-100, the shoe will sell like crazy there. Kids in china want to buy the shoes of the best player in the NBA, they can't afford to spend a two week paycheck on a pair of Lebrons.

Even if UA has the money and it's a huge financial risk. If KD does sign with them and the shoes flop, yeah he will get paid.....but at the same time UA could incur potential long term losses.....especially if it sways other players to play it safe and sign with the big 3 (Nike, Reebok, Adidas)

I could also be wrong and KD could become to them what Jordan became to Nike.

A well designed shoe that will meet aesthetics and performance will depend on whether UA overhauls the design department and possibly poach people from Nike who KD worked with

They'll likely kill all ad campaigns revolving around the VII. The colors that haven't been manufactured yet could be shelved.

I would hope they continue making color ways, maybe do away with the KD branding and keep releasing them at least till the conclusion of the 2014-15 season.

It's a really nice shoe, and 2 of the first 3 color ways did very well.

Does Nike have the right to contact dealers such as Finish Line, Foot Locker, etc. Telling them to remove the remaining products from stores with further instruction to ship them back to them?

I doubt they would pay all those stores there money back. Probably would just be whatever is left is last of it

They did that for the black sheep sb

I believe so, I remember  that nike pulled the original nike air bakin from shelves for having the logo that was similar to the word allah in arabic when muslims felt offended.

But that was PR damage  control to avoid backlash. Seems more urgent than this situation. And chances are when/if KD leaves everyones going to buy up every single pair before Nike is able to spread the word.

UA sure does make some good boxer briefs. Yessir!

This is all I care about.

If they remove the logos and KD references I'd rather they just not release the rest. Easy Money will probably be the last pair of KDs if he went with UA and the 5 released CWs of the 7 will become a collectors item. That's just my guess.
