UA is a billion dollar company with yearly revenues of $2.6 billion and growing. No chance it's going bankrupt anytime soon.

Yeah I don't understand this train of thinking that UA hasn't thought this offer out and can afford it.

Sorry if this has been asked a million times, and I know we don't know Nike's thought process, but why would they put themselves into a position where they could lose a signature athlete in the early states of their new product's life cycle?
Why wouldn't they lock him up before they spent all that money on R&D, manufacturing, and press if they didn't have commitment from Durant beforehand?I know it probably seemed like a long-shot that Durant would leave but Nike had to be aware of the UA/Maryland connection, and would figure that other brands would at least throw "feelers" out in a manner similar to the way teams submit offer sheets for restricted free agents. Crazy situation. The VII had a lot of potential, would suck to see it detailed like this.

I may be talking out of my butt on this one, but Nike knows that they don't need KD. Although a billion dollar company, Under Armour needs KD. With the Kyrie rumors for his own signature shoe, Nike knows that any player they put the swoosh on will sell. If Kyrie went to Under Armour, who is gonna buy the shoes? Lol

I just hope that if he switches over it doesn't turn in to a "check out how premium these materials are, such superior build quality" circle jerk with his ua shoe. Like with wade and lining. Not saying those aren't, but there's more to a shoe than nice materials.

I ultimately agree, Nike's brand identity extends way beyond KD, but two things are interesting. Forbes published an article a few months ago concerning sales figures for signature athletes through all the major brands(Jordan, Nike, Adidas, UA, Wade etc) and though LeBron is still the top dog at Nike by a very wide margin, KD was the fastest climber in terms of sales and popularity(sales increased 400% between the V and the VI) and could project to one-day unseat LeBron as the top signature athlete at Nike(which seems crazy to me, but the numbers don't lie).

It does hurt Nike to have built this brand and and foster its success only to have UA swoop in and sign KD just as he's really taking off. Long term, probably not so much, and Nike does have a stable of elite talent to choose from, but really, I just question why Nike allowed themselves to waste all of that money on the VII only to have it potentially end so abruptly. Even if they can salvage the model without the KD branding(should be easy enough) they still put themselves in a weird position here by not locking KD up beforehand, or just letting him walk and give the VII's design to another athlete.

Sales increased because more VIs (colors and quantity) were made available to retailers than the V. Sales are calculated from manufacturer to retailer, not retailer to customer.

Nah one has white one has gold and these got silver. Totally different. Outsiders just don't get it [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]

Lmao on a good note my girl told me she get the 6's for me so lets see how this plays out. You copping online or in stores?

If the UA deal goes through, RIP to getting 4s or 7s for a good price...

I wouldn't be surprised if Leonsis is pulling some of the strings behind all this madness that is about to ensue with UA and Nike seeing as how they're both the biggest contenders at this point for deal with KD.

Not to mention you got former Montrose coaches on the wiz coaching staff at this point...if he does sign with UA, I could almost guarantee you that it alludes to him coming to washington.

Mentioned that yesterday with getting old ones , theres still afew IVs i want... and ppl already ask crazy prices for Galaxy and AP's.. its only gonna get worse i regret selling most of my 4s

Still need creamsicle 2s too

Curious to see how this would play out. The Nets had a similar situation a few years back when a lot of executives felt like Andre Kirilenko was getting under the table kick backs from Prokhorov for signing a veterans minimum contract when he could have clearly made so much more back in Russia or from other NBA clubs

UA isn't some slap **** brand like Protege. They sponsor the Baltimore Ravens and built their training facility. I work in retail and a lot of customers but the clothing and the training shoes. I myself have worn the UA Black Ice, Spawn Anatomix, and the Cam Trainers and they were exceptional.

As for KD, wow. How can he not go with UA unless they send Leo Chang himself with a blank check.

It's hard enough finding a KD III POP colorway on my size smh

RIP KD THREAD
