He had no leverage at all in that matter, as much his camp would probably say the opposite. Nike did what they did because they held all the cards on the effin table...
KD situation is much different. Talking about a signed athlete with name trademark, likeness and use in commercials, earnings from sale of licensed product, performance based incentives among many other things. This is a multi faceted situation with a lot of third party involvement that is almost indefinitely pointing to KD's decision come 2016. Lines get blurred and there's deff going to be a lot of talk about what happens to all of the product as well as what happens going forward, but until he makes a decision we won't know anything.

And people act like UA is just some run of the mill start up company that is fishing for business. We're talking about a global 18 year old athletic company worth billions of dollars...a top 5 sportswear company in America with a growing market in Asia and Europe.
No company is going in blind to a deal like this and expecting to not come out stronger and with an advantage. Once again you're also talking about a company with major links to the Washington Wizards and the Ravens, and to think that Leonsis doesn't have a role in this would be stupid.

any day now, the KD 7 is gonna be taken off nikeID if he really does sign with UA. i can't see nike promoting his shoe or releasing more cw's while he's with UA.

Honestly if he does leave I'm sure nike puts out those produced pairs before (if) he officially is announced as a UA athlete. Shoes are made well in advance so they won't take the L.
