"UNDER THE BRAND DREAM PARTNERSHIP, OLAJUWON WILL COLLABORATE WITH ETONIC’S MARKETING AND PRODUCT TEAMS TO DEVELOP A NEW FOOTWEAR, APPAREL, AND ACCESSORY LINE."
With the recent success of re-released Ewing, Fila’s 96 (Grant Hill’s signature shoe) and adidas Mutombo sneakers, retro kicks produced by companies not named Nike or Jordan are hotter than ever. As of June, consumers can add Hakeem “The Dream” Olajuwon’s signature Etonic sneaker to that mix. The “Akeem The Dream” hi-top will be the initial release launch of a brand new multi-year partnership between Olajuwon and Etonic.

I dont know about yall but I have been waiting for this for a long time.

Everybody think they can just come back huh? It worked for reebok and ewing because they actually have great designs but stuff like this

.

Wouldn't mind if converse basketball released some retros though I might cop a pair or two

I feel you on this man, alot of these 'minor' brands were essentially biting of Nike, Reebok & Adidas when they came out back in the day. I know you quoted Ewing but their joints were derivative as well - however they did have a slightly deeper catalog.

Etonics will move the OG colourways of this shoe for nostalgic reasons and will have an extremely tough time moving anything retro+. Reebok and Adidas are having a tough time moving their OG colours these days as the 'game' is simply oversaturated!

I personally like some Etonic sneakers especially the ones made for Hakeem Olajuwon. **** being a sheep in the sneaker game I refuse to be the same as the rest. The only thing I follow is my heart.

Managed to pick up a pair from Jackthreads for 85 bucks shipped. Planning on beating the hell out of them.

I sent my size 12 back for a 11.5 ... They run big ... They were pretty nice In person.... These Definatly take me back to my younger days

I received a 20% off coupon for filling out a survey, and then stacked it with a 15% off coupon they had, and then stacked that with their free shipping. Devil customers FTW.

Sorry bub, but it looks like you have clown shoes on your feet. Did you intentionally roll up your 'pants' to show off the kicks?

That said, you're one of the few who has these shoes so what's your take on the construction and build quality? Are the leathers full grain or the Nike/JB hard plastic leather? How about the padding and sockliner?

Padding is good. They are very comfortable overall. Leather is supple and not cheap feeling. Sockliner is leather as well. Yes I rolled up the cuffs of my jeans for the pics, I only clown on weekends.

Appreciate the response, crazy how the small guys can make better quality shoes than Nike/JB and charge way, way less.

I think Etonic sort of has to swing for the fences at this point. They want to make inroads back into the sneaker market and nostalgia can only take them so far. The Trans Am is also looking solid in terms of materials and construction.

Another original colorway that I like in the Etonic Dream has to be the red and white colorway. Check out this vintage pic of Hakeem Olajuwon wearing exactly the red and white colorway next to Ralph Sampson. These kicks look so DOPE!
