^ when they traded up I was convinced they were taking Johnson after fisher and joeckel went 1 and 2..

Considering what was going on with our oline, all of the injuries, we had to go oline.. And lane fit the best, with what we would have asked our tackles


If tackles went 1, 2 and 3.. We would have gone Jordan, mingo or ansah

[COLOR=#red]Through the grapevine they were trying to trade up to 7 if I recall to take Tavon Austin, but couldn't get that. The only team to trade was the Raiders due to not having a second rounder and took it.

So they got BPA i believe, if I remember correctly anyway. And at the time it was Philbin vs. Ireland rather than Philbin + Ireland.[/COLOR]

Year before: trading up for a player the is injury prone and GM panicked because of a run on RBs
Years Before: selecting a left tackle and not a franchise QB (Matt Ryan)...

It has been years of headache with many more examples.

Not to mention they traded up because they were worried Philly would take Jordan.

But Philly took Lane Johnson at 4...

And Lane Johnson would have been the perfect pick for Miami.

No, Lane would not be the perfect pick for Miami.

Everyone knew Branden Albert wanted to come to Miami. But so did Miami, so they knew not to waste trading a pick for him, when they could just sign him a year later. Basically the opposite of how the Knicks got Melo.

Had they taken Lane, they'd still need a DE like Jordan, and who would be available in this year's draft, not named Clowney?

No one.

So now, they have Jordan, they have Albert, and they still have #19 to use elsewhere.

That's a better haul than just having Lane Johnson.

Everyone knew Brandon Albert wanted to come to Miami last offseason? When he said he was happy staying on the Chiefs? And they just decided F it, we'll let Tannehill suffer for a year like David Carr while we wait for Brandon Albert?

Does not compute. I know they discussed trading for him last season, but I don't buy that reasoning.

Of course it doesn't compute for you, you didn't follow the situation daily like we did.

It was no secret, everyone knew it was coming, and oh look, it happened on day 1 of FA, weird. :lol:

If I'm not mistaken, the guy lived in Miami during the off-seasons.

And yes, letting 1 whole year pass is better than trading for someone you can just sign outright.
 
^ i still dont get the jordan pick for miami, with them switch to a 3-4.. i could even understand it if miami went to a 4-3 "under".. but moving jordan to a full-time DE, i didnt get that

and i was listening to something the other day.. i wonder if barr would have been rated higher than jordan if he came out last year (he was a junior, so he could have).. on his 1st year on defense he 13.5 sacks (which led the nation)

They also didn't pick up the option on Ponder so he's done in Minny plus they already replaced him with Cassell
