22yo, recently laid off from first post-college job. What to do now?

Not sure if your willing to do it but you can move here to Houston. A homie was laid off his first post grad job (finance) a while back and is back at work and is still getting bites. He said all he does is upload his resume on Careerbuilder and they bite.

I see you made $60K, that will go a long way here.

Just want to thank NT fam. Appreciate all the help and encouragement.

Landed a job a week after my UE ended (although it's not the ideal role), juggling remote internships on the side, and trying to figure out a side hustle.

If u need an opportunity I can help you out bro. I'm doing financial services on the side and easily bringing in 3-5k a month PART TIME. You can obviously earn more full time if you want.

Doing what exactly? You're a FA?

If OP is licensed which I would assume, his employment/education history would be public info ...

Fortunately? Whats the downside to being licensed? I ask cause I'm licensed
To my knowledge, if you have your Series licenses, your info is public and can be searched via FINRA Broker Check.

It shows previous employment history, if you have any records, etc.

Oh yeah all thats true. If you knew my last name you could pull me up on broker check right now, done it before to myself.

If you were licensed maybe you wouldn't have been laid off in the first instance but ... glad you're back on your feet.

Ehhhhhhh. I dont think being licensed has done anything to help me keep my job over anyone else as of yet, nor has it been a determining factor in getting anyone fired. I will say that all of a sudden they're starting to add license requirements to like every job posting when it was never a requirement in the past.

I'm licensed cause I wanted to be, never felt like a need.

If ur 22 with a degree and 50k saved up ur prolly smarter than the average NTer. Hell I should be asking you what to do now.

NT fam has been extremely helpful to me many times before.

SparkNotes:

- 22yo, live near NYC with family, no student loans/debt, ~$50k saved up

- Got laid off a month ago from my first job out of college ($60k finance job) due to firm reducing headcount

- I have previous multiple finance internships (interned during college) + currently doing unpaid work for a small Private Equity firm + willing to do internships at this point

- More than happy to PM my resume to NT fam who don't mind taking a look and offering criticism

- Game plan so far: talking to recruiters/homies/connections, applying everywhere (in other fields too), cold-calling/emailing

Just wanted to get NT's insight on navigating unemployment + what I should be doing extra moving forward.

Thanks in advance. Much appreciated.

Big props to you for saving up. Don't stop searching for a new job. The moment you start getting too comfortable doing nothing is the moment you already failed.

Man why are ya'll still giving him advice

This thread is from a year ago and he posted an update saying he's currently employed
