These are the only Public Enemy albums worth having.

These albums are classics!!! It's crazy how the content of these albums are very relevant to today!!! These albums are still in heavy rotation! I'm 27 and when I tell people that I listen to Public Enemy, they look at me with a shock face. I know I have an old soul, but sometimes listening to old school is refreshing and timeless. Am I wrong that these are the only albums from them worth buying?

I own It Takes a Nation of Millions and Fear of a Black Planet I've never really listened to any of their other early albums.

I didn't really realize how active they were last decade they dropped a ton of stuff.

Glad you created this

Slept on group along with EPMD

I'm glad you included Yo Bum Rush. That's a really slept on album. Most people think they began with It Takes A Nation.

Yeah, yo bum rush was just as good as it takes a nation, in my opinion.

You know what's funny, I hadn't listen to a PE full/length album until last year. This thread is appreciated OP. I have all four albums as well. Man, these dudes were a force! Terminator X on the turntables too >>>>

Apocalypse 91 was they last good album, after that they albums kinda took a dive
That was why I only purchased these 4 albums. Not only these were there best 4 album, but it was 6.98 each on amazon.com lol. I was a baby when they were at it's peak (Born in 87) and it look like they started a trend in the late 80's and early 90's with the pro black trend as far as the African medallions and cross colors. Maybe I am wrong.

yikes. the lack of love for PE and some of the posts in here make me cringe. one of the greatest of all time man.
guess a lotta youngsters on nt nowadays.

Yeah those early albums are the only ones that I like.  If you get a chance look for all the bonus stuff on the 12"s too. Even if you don't listen to them you can just put them up on the wall because they're cheaper than posters and they artwork's great.

I'm going to have to get some of these Vinyls just to hang on the wall. I love Hip Hop man, for real! I might get the posters as well.

I used to always wonder why they are so overlooked then I remember how fierce competition was and I understand. Back when Hip-Hop still had a soul :smh:

They're only overlooked by this new generation.

This new generation doesn't seem interested in listening to groups and rappers who helped advance the music. They'd rather get turnt up.
People ask me "how old am I" when I ask a person if they listen to PE. That's one of the reasons why people say I have an old soul because I still purchase old CD's. People look at me like I'm crazy when I drive around blasting PE in my car..lol. Most older cats ask me, "What do I know about Public Enemy?" Lol.. I love Hip hop rap music from that era..

Buying old cd's now is a whole lot cheaper now that it was even 10 years ago especially on stuff on big labels like PE. And they sound way better than mp3s so you're getting a good deal.

Things go in cycles and more people will look for older stuff from the golden age. At least some songs like Bring the Noise have over 1 million plays on spotify, but most tracks from one of my favorite albums from that time Main Source's Breaking Atoms doesn't even have 5000 plays each.

Another thing about this group is, they do some great live performances, man this one was real good!!

It Takes A Nation gets a lot of critical acclaim and love but their other early albums don't get the respect they deserve

I got to see them about 10 years ago and even though they were older they still killed their performance.

Gotta throw this one in there too.....

Definitely worth a listen.

And if Chuck D is ever in you area to speak, check him out.  Pretty dope lecturer, IMO.
