Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Movie (Reboot Announced)

Axel Foley really aint a genius or nerd. He's a street smart cop. Plus the Beverly Hills police department was incompetent

They should've made Skeeter's skin color that then. Patti was black even with that blond Nicki/Lil Kim hair. I don't care if the creator said Skeeter was black after the fact. Even then though, if Skeeter's blue meant he was black then he was the token blue guy on the show the entire time.

Luda is the best example but FF is the exception given the entire franchise is minority driven. A true success when it comes to the exposure and positioning of non-white characters as far as I've seen popularity wise.

but they were all techniccally criminals.... :smh:
True  :smh:

The black guy is smart, the asian guy is cool. And the white guy fills the token guy/background decoration role. :nerd: Let this happen

Joking. That'll never happen

Fast and the Furious franchise is produced by "One Race Productions", Vin Diesel's company as he himself is mixed race. He's made it his mission to blur stereotypical racial divides.

Marcus Chong, is half Asian. Matrix was one film that didn't really cast according to race. There was more prominent black characters because the producers want to show a world where race was the least of the HUMAN race's worries. The role of Neo was meant for Will Smith, but he turned it down.

Panthro, was voiced by Bill Cosby's on-screen father.

Donny isn't black, in fact none of the Turtles are. Not by voice or attributes.

Dude went into cartoons after two people. Then posted Skeeter.

But you see how whites always have a DISTINCT representation of themselves? Jim Jinkins still made him distinctly Caucasian.

...and if anything, I always thought Mr Dink and Patti were black.

Yup. This. In all seriousness, the movie could be pretty bad and still be better than the og series was. It was cringe worthy and doesn't age well at all. I know cuz I tried watching mmpr very recently for nostalgia's sake

I tried watching the multiple episode arc when Tommy became the Green Ranger. My favorite memory of the mmpr series and it was actually complete trash

^^^But we actually had a Power Rangers movie that was actually amazing. It was darker than the series, introduced a great villain (Ivan ooze), was visually stunning, and brought us new zords.

I can watch that movie 20 years later....and it steel feels fresh. I know it was a lot easier to do that movie at that time because of cast, the moment etc....but they should take q's from that.

This AND THIS.

Lol I will agree that the mmpr movie is better in quality than the og series and way more watchable today when compared to the og series.

The skydiving/rollerblade sequence, and when they were fighting on that distant planet, and that almost naked chick that helped them out, and the movie music :pimp:

That said, the movie was enjoyable but not exactly a masterpiece or top tier. I don't think it's outrageous to think this reboot can be better. Time will tell.

In all honesty, I just hope the reboot keeps the tone of that movie. The movie was fun and didn't take itself too seriously. If they darken the movie like Snyder did with the DCEU universe -_________-

Agreed.

And what's the name of that song in the skydiving to roller blading sequence? I LOVE that sht . Humming the tune, but can't quite get it right.

In all honesty, I completely forgot. I remember shazam-ing the song so I can find out the name.. I knew it for a while and right now I'm drawing a blank

I'm bout to click my heels three times and say pleasedontbeadarkmoviepleasedontbeadarkmoviepleasedontbeadarkmovie

Above everything else that's what I want least

I couldn't care less about the fits and the racial bending, just get the damn tone right

The first time I saw becky g was when I was watching the star wars premiere event last year. I was wondering who that was with the nice cleavage.

Found it.

Dan Hartman - "Free Ride" :pimp:

Song takes me back man. Remember when roller blades were a huge thing? Mighty ducks, and power rangers had us roller blading, and playing street hockey in the hood . 90s extreme sports >>>

I love the transition from Free Ride to the theme when the get to the juice bar.

Amel, you are my g but you are giving this movie more deference than you would if this were a marvel film.

We've had 15 years of superhero movies though and the bar for them have been rising and rising

It's unfair to hold the mmpr reboot to any kind of standard imo because of one enjoyable film in 1995 lol

Now if we've been having strings of recent Power Rangers movies put together and some of them have been incredible then I will probably be more of a complainer if I see stuff that doesn't 'fit'

Given Haim Saban's track record of spending the least amount of money possible, expectations are low but we still want a decent film.

Disney has been on fire lately between Marvel, Lucasfilm, striking that deal with Sony, and their own films.

Just curaaaazy to me that Disney felt they had to let go of the Power Rangers rights. With their track record it's just crazy to me that they never made an attempt to reboot it theatrically but Saban is about to do it.

I wonder how much Disney sold the rights to Power Rangers for :nerd:

Disney's power rangers was pretty bad. Some of my least favorite power rangers shows were on Disney. Scumbag Haim Saban is awesome. I still remember the Karen Ashley story about the MMPR the Movie premiere. Apparently she was at the premiere and Saban asked her who her favorite ranger was. She looked at Haim with a puzzled look and said "Haim it's Karen" he walked off. [emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji][emoji]128514[/emoji]
