Pretty sure the ones you've been seeing w/ grey ankle area are just samples. Eastbay has a history of using them for product shots and Hypebeast (and all the other blogs for that matter) also have a tendency to be wrong about stuff like this.
Also if you look at the pics of the shoe that hypebeast posted, the pattern on the toebox is messed up, it goes too far up and gets cutoff by the outsole, seems like something you'd typically find on a sample.
won't be surprised if concepts restocks them as well.
