I never really questioned legitimacy (until someone else mentioned fake). Rather noted something on my pair that I personally haven't seen on UB before. But yes, attention to detail at this point is key. Especially as a few days back someone mentioned getting a UnDS pair from DSG...

Still wondering if the difference is some type of b-grade or flaw.

It's cool dude. Just take for what the statement was.
Your observation skills were pretty sharp.
But if the boost came from different factory, machine or just different section of the whole piece, that might explain the varience.
