Was discussed a few pages back but seems like they are still working on being able to produce boost soles other than white so I think most we will see in the near future are white mid-soles.

I want to see Adidas try and tackle doing multi-colors with their primeknit.

I think the fact that it remains white is largely marketing/recognition of the tech, as some have mentioned.  Perhaps it could also be dictated by how BASF produces the beads that go into the formed boost midsoles

If anyone was curious as to the root of the innovation, Boost is made of BASF's

'Infinergy'

I know I probably and overly geek about this ish, but it's interesting...

We discussed that the paint/dye sipping in through might affect the performance and that is why they keep them white. I do think the sole is too porous and id paint/dye does go in ans dries it might harden and negate the bounciness? Just a theory of course.

Someone also posted earlier that an Adidas representative said they are working on coloring the sole but haven't been able to produce it where it looks good.

I don't think the white is a recognition of the tech though because white is pretty common and it's not like it original or distinct to the Boost like the re bottoms on Louboutins. Plus they are in the bottom of the Yeezy Boosts where it isn't even visible and they are sample, surely they could have painted it and see what happens? I think the overall shape and the beads being lumped together is distinct enough for the tech, there is nothing like the boost sole up close (they are like rubber styrofoam) and I think that look will remain even when colored. Sure it isn't going to be too noticeable from a distance in a dark color but so is the white sole from a distance. You still got to get close to see the texture on the sole itself.

Just purchased my first pair of Pure Boosts from FTL.. $99 shipped, sized down .5 (my roshe size), hope it fits just as good. :nerd:

Hmmm should I scoop these energy boosts for $60 or save a little and get the ultras?

If you do a lot of running then I don't think it could hurt, worst comes to worst you return them (30 day return policy through adidas and I think Finishline has 15 days?) or you like them and burn through them as a rotation along with the Ultras. Plus you'll get to experience the boost cushion first hand and then decide if it is for your or not before jumping on the Ultras.

If you don't do much running or already know how boost feels and already decide you like it, then maybe just save up and get the Ultras. I think you can use the 15% discount they are giving out if you sign-up for their newsletter on Adidas.com now and someone posted a 20% off code on Eastbay a few pages back too.

@RFX45
out of reps today, but excellent points there.  Thanks

No problem, I like talking techs and that is mainly the factor on most my Nike purchases, all about performance. The new trainers every season, Hyperfeel, Metcon, etc... I love checking and trying them out.

I am curious if Adidas plans to put the boost sole in some trainers though the bounciness isn't really necessary but it'll make great for cushioning if they can make it thin enough and minimize the energy return?

That's what I was thinking. I was gonna cop the energy boosts for comfortable shoes to rock for the late nights in the lab. Currently using zoom Pegasus 31 for my running shoes but might throw these energy boosts in the rotation if I like them

Been looking for that Pure Boost in black that doesn't have the reveal upper at FTL to no avail.

The ultra are the real deal. I wanted to hate the shoe for $180 butan they feel good even though I don't care for either color option.
The green ones I showed the YouTube of earlier will be launched on 8/1 unless they run out of stock of these releases and move it up. 10/1 will launch a solid gray version. Adidas rep at the store told me the dates. I'll end up with 3 pair sadly.
