engagement /marriage thread.

Nah fam, I disagree. You know its real love when it's not about the money. I see a dude spend a GRIP on a ring or a car or designer stuff, and I immediately think it's not real between them.

On the other hand, I see a chick with a plain wedding or engagement band w no stone, and I know her and her man are serious about each other :pimp:
I said SOCIETY though.

You mean to tell me you don't think that SOCIETY in general looks at how Mich a man spends as comparable to how much he loves you.

You're smart. People are dumb. You look at things logically. People don't.

There's a reason why women are willing to go into debt for a wedding... Or compare ring sizes.

Come on, chop. You know i ain't lying.

You only need to know one word...

Moissanite

Yep that's what I got my girl she love them. They basically are diamonds.

Paid $300

Must've been baby sized and set in silver.

My homie also did the whole through greek a apple at her thing while they were jogging. She knew the reference though. If you decide on this route make sure to aim for the head homie

What's this?

Just proposed...don't get a fake diamond bruh....here is her ring

For research purposes blue Nile is perfect, there is an education thread that talks about the 4 C''s and more. I used blue Nile as a price mark and used a design your own ring feature and worked with a jeweler and went through a couple of cad designs to get the exact design and setup.

Focus more on the quality of the stone as oppose to the size (carat).

My fiancée has slowly become a shoe fiend so I proposed with a pair of Jordan XI's in her size secretly tied to the laces...she freaked out when she saw it, I have it all on video but you don't post your girl on NT.

If you need any help with the ring please PM and I can help as needed...good luck

congrats :smokin

i never been to a wedding and i got a question? do women get another ring the day they get married and do they just stop wearing the first one you get them

The one with the big diamond is the engagement ring. You guys put wedding bands on at the wedding so after that she literally has two rings on while you get the one band.

God damn 90k? 30k? Y'all doing big things out here

Not everybody on NT is in the jobless thread and/or still live at home  There's opportunities out there if you put in the effort to really grind.

Me and my lady will be married on October 25. The bride gets a ring on the wedding ceremony, usually a wedding band if she already has a engagement ring. After that it's up to her if she wants to wear both. If you can, when you are doing engagement ring shopping, look for engagement ring sets. The sets usually include the engagement ring and matching wedding band.

Speaking of that I got to start looking for a band for my lady. Once you're engaged and set the wedding date..................time flies by fast.

Some things I remember....

I bought the diamond and the setting for the engagement ring separately. You can save some that way.

Had my wife's best friend who had a decent understanding of gems come with me for both. Diamond guy was also recommended by a good friend.

Put together I think the ring was over 10k. They appraise higher. I paid in cash to get a discount and avoid taxes.

Took the ring to her parents and asked for their blessing. Which they appreciated.

Proposal went fine. Did it on Christmas one year. She was dying to get engaged already.

So I actually got her a diamond faced Hello Kitty ring (she's into that ********) for Christmas. Knowing she would be low key mad she got a diamond ring and it wasn't an engagement ring. Then hit her with the engagement ring like an hour later.

All good. Got married in PR. Destination weddings will cut down on the head count. I think it was about 20-30k or so for the wedding which she insisted on paying for. I think I kicked in 5k to cover something.

And then I paid for the honeymoon (Turks+Caicos) which was another 5k or so with first class flights, baller *** hotel etc.

5 years this summer. One baby boy.

Good luck to you.

:nthat:

Like a few have said destination weddings are a lot cheaper.

My lil brother had his at the Hard Rock in DR.

Wedding package is free. Includes ceremony on the beach and roof top reception.

Also depending on the amount of rooms you book the bride and groom suite is free.

All your really coming out of pocket is for photography and whatever extra you want.

Resort is beautiful I must say. Definitely worth it :smokin :smokin

People put more into their weddings than the actual marriage..... This society is backwards. One should not be putting themselves in debt for a wedding.

Lots of folks is wasting their money. See divorce rate.

Stayed there on a trip with my boys last year, had a damn good time in Punta Cana

Make sure to ask her dad for permission first.

It might seem like it's not a big deal, but it's the one opportunity you have to earn his respect and start off your new life together on the right foot.

You'll never be able to change it if you don't, and if you do and it goes south, you'll know from the get go where things are.

Question for you married/engaged nters, how did you know? Ever broken up for any amount of time?

We spent ALOOOTTT on our wedding, but the day was so far one of if not the best day of my life. Could that money have gone to other things sure but I dont regret it one bit. A good chunk of it went to our honeymoon which was second to none.

Also push for an engagement watch. She needs to spend some loot too lol. My wife had no issues but I think it's a good gesture since your shelling loot out for an engagement ring

Hey guys. Been with the bae 6 years and I want to propose. Im not nervous but I want everything to go smoothly. What were your experiences proposing to your gf ? Did everything go as planned? What kind of research did you do when it came time to buy the ring?
First of all, congrats on wanting to take that next step with your GF. Regarding your questions, I'll try to answer them in the best order:

- Kind of research came to the ring.

   - My GF is on Pinterest a lot and had begun pinning various dresses and types of rings that she'd like. So I kept note on the styles that she pinned and even nonchalantly asked her why she liked the specific design of the ring or the cut of the diamond. This became my foundation in searching for the best ring that I could afford for her. From there, I went to Tiffany's (Overpriced, but if you have $$$, go for it) all the way down to the mall jewelry stores (Zales, Jared). I ended up going to Shane Co. simply because my friends had recommended them because of the price and the customer service. Shane Co. schooled me on the types of Diamond from cut to clarity and once I understood all that, I was able to finalize my purchase.

-Experience proposing to my GF.

  - I say that it was worked out well. We planned to spend the entire day going all around San Francisco. So I mapped out various places that we both wanted to go and see for the first time. Through out the entire day, I played off the idea that I couldn't propose to her because of expenses...And she was understanding of that. It wasn't until we ended our "day" at the last spot I had planned. I invited her brother and some of our closest friends (basically our wedding party) to be there when I propose. I planned out this idea where we would walk around the museum and talk about how our relationship has been so good, which led to me telling her that I had asked for her parent's permission to propose to her. To get to the front of the museum, I lied and said the building was lit up a special way and I really wanted to show her. So I had her close her eyes as I guided her back to the front of the museum. Now, while we were walking around the building, our friends were setting up the front with rose pedals and candles. When we got to the middle of the museum, I stopped,  got down on my knee, and asked her to marry me.

- Did things go according to plan?

  - For the most part, yes. Only problem was that I proposed in July and the sun didn't begin to set until 730-8. So the candles were practically pointless, but whatever. She said yes, she was happy to see all our closest friends witness the engagement.

Just be yourself and make sure you don't kill your bank account over the ring. Know that you have the wedding and the rest of your life with her to save money for. lol.

Good luck man, I hope everything works out for.

And sorry for the long response.

That makes all the sense to me, personally, but women are women and they will make decisions that seem irrational all the time. The question the guy proposing has to answer is, if it's worth it to him

YES.

Look at your lady and imagine her 75+ lbs. if you can't smash, you don't love her. Pretty face>nice body..

Ya'll too shook to tell your one an only to hit the gym,

Also, lead by example, if you want your girl to stay fit and toned your *** better be fit and toned. That means you too skinny fat guys, frail wonders.

My girl is 21 weeks in, still grinding at the gym, :smokin
You becoming a dad? :wow:
