Was reading this article this morning and it's quite a good read if you have the time. Basically a breakdown of the 2002 WCF between the Lakers and Kings with insights from players, coaches, announcers, and refs of each game. Was real interesting reading about games 4, 5, 6, and 7 from all the people involved. Long read but worth it if you have the time.

Kings had no chance going into that game 7. They even said so in so many words.

That kings team = mental ****** chokers.

Got game 5 handed to them on a silver platter.

Choked game 4 away. Say what you want about Samaki Walkers shot but if you blow a 24 point lead with a chance to go up 3-1 on the champs you choked.

Choked game 7 away at home, all those missed free throws and webber and peja looking shook late in the game.

People will over exaggerate game 6 and overlook everything else though and make excuses crying how Sacramento got screwed though.

I agreed with you on most points, besides the game 6 comment. You have to be biased or blind not to see what happened to the Kings game 6. How the Hell does a team shoot 27 free throws in one quarter? That's just not natural, man.

LITERALLY, the Kings choked so bad that people believe it to be a conspiracy.

Like, people simply can't believe a team can be that weak.

I've always acknowledged that the lakers benifited from some questionable calls in game 6. However people exaggerate how bad it was. A decent amount of those free throws came in the closing minutes where they were intentionally fouling the lakers. The way they were constantly fouling Shaq throughout that series it was inevitable the lakers would get to the line alot. Most the games in that serried Sacramento shot more free throws then the lakers despite how much they would foul Shaq.

I got no problem with people mentioning game 6 but alot who do and claim it to be a conspiracy convientely overlook and downplay game 5 where some bad calls could've cost the lakers the series. The lakers were cheated out of going up 3-2 in the closing minute of game 5. If they win that its arguable that the game 6 stuff never happens because Sacramento would've folded if they lost game 5.

When the lakers got cheated in game 5 they still had to win agame in Sacramento to advance. When Sacramento got shafted in game 6 they had home court the next game.

Phil Jackson: It wasn’t as ridiculous as you saw in, say, the Miami versus Dallas series in 2006 when Dwyane Wade was shooting 20-something free throws a game that series.

D. Whistle :smh:

good read.

fun times :D

Man i reading this and dudes had no respect for the Nets

Christie: I was going through emotions like, Man, this is Game 7. This is the Lakers. In my mind, that was it. If we beat these guys, we’re going to kill the New Jersey Nets. It was a powerful moment from many different standpoints. Your whole life, you’ve been working for this moment.

Divac: Peja was hurt, he had something wrong with his leg. But hey, if somebody told you that you’re going to be one shot away from the Finals, and basically whoever goes to the Finals wins …
