WIN!

My store has now recalled all Nalgene and hard plastic bottles because of the health risk issue.
Also, those who have purchased it a while ago, and don't have their receipt can still return it, in return they get a store credit...
Sucks because Nalgene's were off the chain.

look at the bottom of your plastic bottles - you will see a 1

that is the lowest quality of plastic BY LAW that corporations can use and not be liable

so all the nestle, gatorade bottles, etc have the 1

now check the bottom of your nalgene bottle - you will see a 7

highest quality, hence a higher price

I never bought a nalgene or similar plastic bottle because common sense would tell you that it isn't really safe.

Water breaks EVERYTHING down. Give it enough time and water will start breaking even the most water resistant materials down. Ingesting microscopic bits ofchemicals wasn't really my thing.

Nalgene is the way to go. I'll take my chances with these health concerns and continue to use my nalgene day in and day out.

so 1 full year later and I've already converted to a Klean Kanteen water bottle...(got it for Xmas as a gift)

I wasn't really worried about the BPA issue...but my bottle kept popping open in my bag and figured better safe than sorry..

great bottle...durable(I don't have to worry about it shattering if it drops) keeps the water colder a bit longer(but not by much.).

My only (tiny)issue is keeping track of the cap.

I don't know what kind of bottle this is, but my wife got it free from work:

It's awesome because it has a snap top that has a hinge, so I don't have to worry about losing the cap. Plus, the bottom screws off and I can storesome snacks or something to mix into my water.

I used to use that same exact Nalgene bottle. Switched to a Sigg, a girl I was dating bought it for me (I had been looking at them and she picked up on it).Been using the Sigg for about 6 months, it keeps me away from the BPA questions plus it keeps water a lot colder, longer.

I had a sigg, the sigg has a lining that is not a whole piece.. it can break. Klean Kanteens have a one piece lining so it can't break.

^yeah...that's the thing that I didn't like about Sigg...they use some kind of liner... whereas KK was a straight up metal bottle.

I've been using a Sigg since around Christmas time. I got it as a present. I don't need to use paper or red cups and waste them anymore. Sigg and otherbottles FTW!

Welcome to the club Dirty. I've been using my KK for about 2 years now and other than a few dings from being dropped it's holding up nicely.

I found an 18 oz bottle on Amazon for 15 dollars and I'm close to buying, but I have a couple questions for you guys.

The tops screw on right? So I could get the flat top and it would screw on, not pop on and off?

Whats the benefit of a loop cap?

Is it easy to clean, and does stuff inside taste weird?

Can it store hot liquids?

1. yes, the top screws on -- the flat top would screw on as well
2. loop cap... you can loop a carabiner or a line so that you can secure it to anything.
3. I toss mine in the dishwasher with no issues. It has a wide mouth so it gets pretty clean
4. personally, I can taste a bit of metal when my water has been in the bottle for more than a day...but it's not bad at all. I've put Grapefruit juicein it... did not noticably affect the taste of juice
5. hot liquids?...not sure...but I don't see why not. Although it's not an insulator...so the bottle is gonna become hot to the touch

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I think I'm going to go with the flat cap so I would fit into my backpack easily. I look on the Amazon page and it said itsnot suitable for hot liquids, but it isnt a big deal because I'll be using it for water/shakes.
