Like this somehow stops her from being cute

Eddie Huang seems like a cool dude just from podcasts and his show.

Like the Asian kid who was runnin around with the black/spanish kids in high school.

So we Asians have to hang out with the black/Spanish kids to be cool then?

Well when it comes to my specific tastes as a Black/Spanish dude who identifies with hip-hop/Black/Spanish culture, then yea being familiar with what I'm into makes anyone that much more cool in my eyes regardless of race.

Been following Eddie for awhile now. Dude is like the young Anthony Bourdain. He really is doing it right now

Son got his own book, a VICE web series, a restaurant, his own Nike SBs and now his own TV sitcom on a major network :nthat:

will support the show

I don't wanna sound racist.

But IN MY HIGH SCHOOL EXPERIENCE there were the Asian kids who kind of stuck with the nerd crowd (all races of non-bush getting Phantasy Star Onlne ids), the Asian kids who were all about that White kid life, and the Asian kids who were about that blunts, broads, and basketball life.

Sorry if that sounds crazy, that was just my subjective experience.

Just like any race, there were different types of kids, and Eddie Huang seems like the type of kid who was into Dipset and rocking oversized jerseys like the rest of us in high school.

Isn't that any kid of any race in general?

Replace the word asian in your post with any race and it would still apply.

You mean....

Fresh Off the Boat?

Yall are trying way too hard to bait a race conversation. I guess this is how you think the black folks do it...i dunno but just stop.

The Asian kids that were Asian kids? wtf?

I just dont understand why you would preface it with "I dont wanna sound racist" especially if it applies to everyone.

LOL. I'm trying to say that I dont think what you said is racist because it applies to everyone. But prefacing it like that makes you sound racist, thats all I'm saying.

Maybe I'm thinking of it differently because where I'm from, everyone kicked it with everyone. Everyone beefed with everyone.

Yeah, the Asians that were about that Asian kid life, if you will.

I feel what you're saying, bruh.

Where I'm from is very segregated. I live in PG County, MD where everyone (like 70%) is Black followed by some White/Spanish and then everyone else kind of finds their place amongst those dominant cultures.

Basically EVERYONE, regardless of race, for the most part identified with Black DC/Metro culture, unless they identified with White culture or their own family's homeland culture.

So because of those demographics, the Asian kids tend to be more like Eddie "Half Man Half Amazin" Huang.

Ya'll see where I'm comin' from?

I actually think he covered most asian american. I didn't even see a racist statement and there was no reason to even start with "I don't want to sound racist".

The funny thing about asians even though I always hear how "they stick together" is how verse we are to other cultures. This might be more with the newer generations but it amazes me how some asians can take a culture and curate it perfectly as if it was their own. But slowly those initial asian guidelines passed down from our parents are slowly being pushed out. I really think it's not even a race thing and more so a location thing. Asians are way different say in Cali then they are in the East Coast and I am not even talking about what culture they follow. I know some asian chicks from Brooklyn and they are some tough cookies and then I'd meet some girls from say So Cal and they are more subtle and what not.

Asian guys in HS are into either sneakers, books, or video games from my experience

Are you saying Asian American culture is being phased out? :nerd:

Not sure if phased out is the word. More like each generations are adapting to their surroundings. American culture is a huge influence whether it be within the media, social media, television, people around us, etc that it's easy to lose touch with a culture thousands of miles away. If your parents (like my own) didn't bestow that on to you, it'd be hard to really know your initial roots.

The next couple of generations after us will be an interesting thing for sure.

I like "Fresh Off The Boat" on VICE....

this looks horrible.
