Our spy photographers have sent us the best images yet of Dodge's upcoming Challenger Hellcat, revealing the front end design and new hood scoop set to adorn the top-spec muscle car.

Although we were disappointed that Dodge didn't show the Hellcat at the recent New York auto show, it doesn't look as though we will have to wait much longer to see the supercharged Challenger. The Challenger Hellcat's front end design looks to be complete, including a Viper-esque hood scoop.

That Viper connection likely isn't an accident as the Hellcat promises to rival Chrysler's flagship model, which is now sold under the SRT banner, in terms of total power.

"We have a situation where, you know -- we may have a situation -- where the flagship car is not the most powerful car in our arsenal ... how do we explain that to ourselves? So we have an internal horsepower race as well as an external one," SRT CEO Ralph Gilles revealed in an interview published in the April issue of Hot Rod Magazine.

Taken at face value, Gilles' statement means the Challenger Hellcat will pack over 640 horsepower and 600 lb-ft. of torque. Those figures would put the coupe just behind the Ford Shelby GT500 and well ahead of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

Although precise technical details are being kept under wraps until the Hellcat's debut, power is expected to come from a 6.2-liter Hemi V8 engine fed by a large supercharger. The Challenger will boast a modified front end with larger air intakes in order to feed the required amount of air to the supercharger, and it looks like the rear end could get a few tweaks as well.

The 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat will be revealed later this year and go on sale shortly after as a 2015 model. The Hellcat is expected to be offered as a separate model above the current SRT Challenger variant.

Looks like 6 piston brakes up front, and I love the bronze tint to the wheels. I hope to add one of these to the garage one day soon.

It moved.

Isnt someone else making the engine for this of something?

No this is Mopars new 6.2 Liter Supercharged V8 that will power the 2015 SRT Challenger. The 2015 R/T will get a 485hp version of the Hemi V8 that currently powers the old 2011-13 SRT8 line up.

Love the Challenger. This thing is beastly. I, too, will add this to the garage. No time soon though.

^I'm going to wait until a couple years later when the SRT Cuda drops. That way, I can pick up the 15' Hell Cat Challenger Preowned when leases are being returned to dealerships.

U dont want a leased hellcat hah ppl that lease these are gunna drive the wheels off that thang hah few cars would i only buy new but a performance car like this is def one. Let the dealer/manafacturer handle any headaches. Prob worth the 20k or so ud "save"

I like the new chally a lot. Def like the new upgrades and subtle changes.

All this biting off Ford with the supercharging is getting old...

Are they going to shed some weight off the car?

I see your point, but preowned is the only way that I have ever, and will ever by my cars no matter what my salary is. I'd much rather have someone else take the depreciation hit, and most of these will be in great working order since they will still be under warranty with just over 30K miles. These will definitely be pushed, but also well broken in when I make my preowned purchase.

Significant weight will be dropped with the upcoming SRT Cuda.

Funny thing is the Shelby has a smaller engine yet makes more power

And idk how much weight they could save the chally is big as hell

This is not the hellcat.. I believe this is just a hood option on srt models... Higher up at Dodge confirmed this.. He said he was sick of people saying this was the hellcat...
