The RETRO Gaming Thread!

The PS1 first came out 20 years ago. It's older than the children who play Call of Duty online shouting obscenities at you. The PS2 came out 14 years ago. It's about as old as the children who play Call of Duty online shouting obscenities at you.

I would consider them retro.

Damn its crazy that these are all retro games now. I have tons of memories on so many of these games ... Great topic OP

OP,

How do you feel about the Retro N 5?

I've been looking forward to it but it seems like its a pipe dream now...

I'm indifferent about it. I just use a Mad Catz M.O.J.O. to emulate games instead. While it's cool that the RetroN5 lets you use original controllers, the only thing the cart will do is rip the data onto the Android OS and emulate it anyways. If it played directly off of it, I would have enjoyed that more. But it's a cool novelty I guess.

I'll probably still get one just because I want to use old controllers and having an HDMI is godsend.

Battletoads lvl 3. Was probably everyone's last level at that game

Talk about difficult. That game must be top 3

Wow, I just looked up that Retron5 and that is dooooope. I hope it releases. I'm gonna cop one then raid my local Play n Trade for old games.

Wait it's already out?

Where can I cop? Didn't see anything about buying on their site.

For the cost of the RetroN 5, I'd rather get a decent upscaling/image converting system to play my old systems on an HDTV. I don't like that it copies the game and emulates it. Or that it might have problems recognizing or running certain games, especially new ones, since I'm looking forward to Project Y on the Genesis.

Man, these games you guys are posting bring back so many memories. We used to go rent two games from the video store on Friday night, get 2 pizzas, and just have the time of our lives. I am 27 and honestly haven't been much into gaming in like a dozen years. I have a PS3, played Madden a few times, played Red Dead Redemption like 90 seconds. My friends have me play Call of Duty and I am just lost and getting dizzy. I am like a 65 year old in a 30 year old's body

I went and found my SNES and N64 a couple days ago and I am pretty sure I could play Super Mario World for ten hours straight. I sort of want to go get an old TV to get that feeling even more. I used to sit so close to the TV I could feel the heat/static off the thing. These games didn't have the graphics of today, but they were creative and did more with less.

I don't know about you guys, but I am so looking forward to the rest of the year for gaming. What's your fave pick for the year?

Sold most of my videos games before 2004. Found a few over the over the holidays I forgot about and flipped them...Dreamcast, Genesis and N64 etc...

The fact that some N64 games go for $40+ even without box/manuals surprised me. Kinda with I didn't sell all mine to Funcoland etc back in the day. I would clean up now.

Still have two N64s...gonna keep one and give the other to my lil bro and sister once I stop being lazy and buy more controllers, games etc. I'll probably put them up on the NES too hopefully my dad didn't throw it away

Crazy to think there's a whole generation of people who's only understanding of the OG Gameboy is as an Iphone case.
