I put 40 years into college hoops and was forced to retire. Took Sacramento State, St. John's and Louisville to the Final Four.

I run RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi 3 and it works well. I haven't heard of Lakka but it seems to be the same concept. They both run on RetroArch/libretro. It looks to me like RetroPie has better documentation/community, but Lakka is a bit more user-friendly. You might wanna look into it to weigh your options.

Fired up a new playthrough of Dragon Warrior Monsters over the weekend. It and its sequel (DWM 2: Cobi/Tara) are two of my favorite games ever. Some people peg them as Pokemon clones/copies, but I find they're much better. The monster breeding is what really sets them apart. I highly recommend checking them out.

Dragon Quest 7 (I think), for PS2 was a game that I bought at the tail end of my Ps2 career. It was a great game but I never finished it. Getting an itch but I just don't have the time..........

THIS. I got DW I in late 1989 (loved it) and I presently have it as DQ I on iOS on my phone. It was the first JRPG I remember getting into, although I'd previously played other RPGs like Dragonstomper on Atari/Starpath and Ultima: Exodus on the NES. I remember back in the late 80s how when DQ II and III released in Japan, I saw pics and video clips that showed how wild it was. There were hundreds of people lined up per store and near riots when stores ran out of stock.
I don't remember DQ VII on the PS2, but I think it was on the original PS as Dragon Warrior. I still have DQ VIII: Journey of the Cursed King on PS2 with its strategy guide. Ironically, within the last month or two, remakes of DQ VII and DQ VIII have released on 3DS, and I got them both, but not a lot of people seem to be interested. It's kind of like when DQ IV-VI and IX released for DS some years back. Barely anyone bought them, but they were great games.
I don't know why DQ hasn't been more popular stateside. It's just as good a series as Final Fantasy (another one of my favorites). Maybe the jacked up naming conventions had something to do with it. First Enix didn't want to call it "Dragon Quest" in America, then sometimes they did; now it seems they don't care. LOL.

I've actually never played any of the main DQ/DW series games. Just the "Monsters" series . I'm a big JRPG fan though and always hear how DQ paved the way for mostly all of the JRPGs that followed. May have to add a few of them to my list to play.
