Squaresoft was video game sex. They were offering more on an snes cartridge than ps4 is with a bluray. Sad

So true. I'm happy that I was a child during the SNES era. Sucks that I didn't get into FF until 7 for PS1 though. But Mario RPG is one of my top 5s esily. It was my first RPG too.

Battletoad though, my uncle bought me like 3 of them. Each harder than the one before it. :x

It's like if it isn't a AAA title it's nothing. Development team are falling left and right due to high cost of production. This leaves us with a "take what you can get" industry

I don't think that could be less true. The indie scene has more than picked up the slack left by the near-extinct mid tier studio realm. Lots of great games year after year.

Never been a better time to be a gamer imo, even with a lot of the BS that comes with certain AAA games.
 
Anyone pick up Resident Evil HD Remastered? It's amazing. I haven't played the game since the 2002 GameCube release lol. Going to definitely play it a lot more as I find some free time.

I'm going to be in Tokyo for about 3 weeks starting next week. So expect a lot of retro gaming updates from me via my social channels/site (in my sig).

 I haven't seen or heard of this game in years! I used to have that. Bo Jackson on Auburn was UNSTOPPABLE! That option pitch to him was money all day.

You play sporting games bruh? EVERYBODY agrees that ESPN NFL 2K5 is the holy grail of football sims. To this day that game plays better and more realistically than any Madden ever. Madden is damn near unplayable with how broken the physics and the AI are, no amount of tinkering with the sliders fixes the game. It's an effectively broken title.


You play NBA 2K? Damn near everybody feels that product quality and AI has diminished over the years.


You play Fight Night Champion? The older iterations of the series played more realistically than this ********.


You play EA Sports UFC? Again, the Undisputed series by THQ played infinitely better than the current.


You got an XBox 360/one papi? If so say bye to baseball, because it's either MLB 2k or NOTHING, yeah I'd take nothing because the former option is GARBAGE.


Licensing agreements have destroyed the integrity of developers. They have NO competition because they can just buy a license with a sporting league and just release essentially roster/graphical updates every year. Pure laziness has befallen the sporting realm of gaming and this is a WIDELY held sentiment amongst sporting gamers.


Now I don't play Fifa so I can't speak on that. But IDK how long you've been playing these games, but if you've been an avid sports gamer for years like myself you'll be outright delirious to believe that the genres have improved.

Today I played Street fighter II on the arcade machine and I Absolutely got destroyed.. It was easy money for the CPU.. My quarter was gone.. :rofl:

got my buddy a retron 2 (plays NES and SNES) for our secret santa, cant wait for him to get some games and bring them over :smokin
 
I bought that retro Sega Genesis system recently. The graphics look better but the music for the Sonic and Streets of Rage games is horrible compared to the original.

Been playing old games with my kids, mostly Moonwalker, and X-Men 1 and 2. Man I can't beat the last level of Moonwalker for nothing. Having trouble with the X-Men games too, had to look up some codes, lol.

Madden 95 is still one of the greatest sport games ever til this day. I never played with the 49ers back in the day. My dad would always beat me with them. I see now why he picked them. Ricky Waters was a beast!! That damn off tackle run play.

What code is that?

I only remember a few codes, mainly the Sonic 1-3 codes. I remember the code to get the Panthers and Jaguars on Madden 95.

I would consider the GameCube retro too. Hell, every game up to the PS2 and Xbox is retro in my eyes.

the cheat code to just many of the nes games ala contra, mike tyson punchout etc....
