OFFICIAL 2014 LA CLIPPERS OFFSEASON THREAD -- Ballmer Sale Final!

Arash Markazi ‏@ArashMarkazi · 6m
Doc Rivers, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan are confirmed for the Clippers rally on Monday to introduce Steve Ballmer as owner.

Unfortunately, looking less and less likely I will get to go. Work sucks. :smh:

I'm actually not going today due to an early morning call from work. But in case anyone is interested, Prime Ticket is going to be televising the Fan Fest.

Damn, we got you talking to yourself in here

I thought about going but didn't have anyone to join me so I'm stuck at the office.

Now I'm regretting my decision. :smh: (and for talking to myself).

Peeping the fan rally on TV and I'm pretty hyped. Staples is packed. The player comments/speeches wer re w/e, but Ballmer is something else. Running aroung hi-5ing people, getting crazy with his speech. He's the anti-DTS.

HARD-CORE! HARD-CORE! HARD-CORE!

gotta love Ballmer

^^^Ballmer's awesome. How can you not love the NBA owner version of Matt Foley motivational speaker?

This dude is a damn nut

At least we'll know he'll want to win as badly as the fans do. I hope he doesn't try to get too involved tho. More Cuban, less Jerry Jones.

RT @cf_gardner: Source indicates Bucks have traded Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica to Clips for Jared Dudley and future first-rounder

I like this move. I definitely think Delfino is an upgrade over Dudely and, given where we've been drafting lately, am not too worried about giving up a first rounder.

Supposedly Delfino is still injured and might miss the season. Sucks because I think he would be a good fit for us.

This was for their non-guaranteed contacts next season.

Don't like the move for a couple of reasons.

1. Dudley can't be worse than he was last year and he was hurt. Should have let him come back and see if he can play up his value so you don't have to attach a first round pick with him. Basically don't sell something at its low point.

2. This is Doc trying to correct another one of his mistakes. Just because he's not a good talent evaluater doesn't mean you give away first rd picks away like they are meaningless. The Spurs sustain success by hitting on their late firsts.

3. His contact only runs two more years at round $4mil each. If he returned to the player you traded for, its a good contract.

In summary, we traded Bled, an $8 mil expiring contact in Caron AND a 2017 first for Redick, Delfino and Raduljica. :smh: :x :smh:

^^^ Did not know about Delfino being injured. If he really can't play, this move makes no sense. I hope the FO knows something more positive about his health than we do.

Edit -- apparently, Woj deleted what he tweeted about Delfino being injured, but who knows. I guess we'll find out for sure in about a month when camps start.

^^^ Then I really don't get it. Not that it makes us worse, but sure doesn't make us better. I guess it gets us more cap flexibility next year, but I'm not sure that's what we should be thinking about right now.

I guess I'll reserve judgment until the summer's officially over, but this offseason has been pretty unimpressive so far.

Except for getting rid of DTS -- that's huge.

According to Sam Amick, we are likely to stretch provision Delfino, waive Raduljica and look at signing CDR and Udoh.

So we give up a future first to sign dudes who wouldn't even crack our top 8? Hustling backwards if I ever seen it.

Why not just stretch Dudley and keep your first?

Somebody needs to save Doc from himself.

Dudley's contract was signed before the lockout. Teams can only stretch contracts signed after the lockout.

The Clippers officially waive Carlos Delfino and Miroslav Raduljica three days after trading for them.

Arash Markazi ‏@ArashMarkazi 5m
Delfino and Raduljica were waived using the stretch provision, freeing up $3.5 million for the Clippers to sign players to minimum deals.

Arash Markazi ‏@ArashMarkazi 3m
Jared Dudley and a future first round pick was the price the Clippers were willing to pay for roster and cap flexibility.

OK, Doc. Time to reveal what your "vision" is. Otherwise, this was a pretty useless and possibly wasteful move.

I wouldn't expect anything miraculous. He just did this so we can sign 2-3 minimum level guys to fill out the bottom of the roster, have that extra room next year to re-sign DJ and possibly the MLE next off season. I just hope one of guys we sign is a wing with length and who can play at least above average defense.

I'm just pissed that we traded our last real asset (Bled) and a first round pick for the right to waive two players, all in one year.

Doc gonna have Baller buying a $3mil draft pick just to unload Farmar next year at this rate

Supposedly the pick is lotto-protected from 2017 - 2019, and if we miss the playoffs all three of those years, it turns into 2nds in '20 and '21.

Makes me feel a bit better but Raduljica wasn't worth waiving. He's a offensively skilled 7ft, and only makes about $1.5 mil.

Damn this trade annoys me :smh:

^^^Likewise. Seems like a totally unnecessary trade until further notice

I'm not sure this makes me ok with dumping Dudley and a 1st rounder for cap space, but at least its something.
