NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

I am very disappointed that the NFL and its hearing office didn't exercise better discretion and judgment in my case.
This is the part of his statement that leads me to believe his camp will be pursuing some sort of legal action.

That game between Pitt and Browns week 1 may be a struggle fest

Ok, dmx...I gotta ask now, because it seems like you're not very high on the Steelers this year. Is it because you really think they aren't very good or because you're trying on some reverse psychology/low expectations then feel good when they exceed that type of deal?

I mean what's preventing them from contending for more? How long ago you won your last doesn't matter. And I believe their regular season win% has gone up since Spygate so I'm not putting that as a reason to not win.

you're making too much sense. repped.

but peyton gets dragged through the mud for his good seasons and postseason shortcomings. why should the pats be treated any different? :nerd:

we're talking just about the impact of spy gate on the pats ability to win games. they've actually become a stronger and more consistent team after it (in terms of winning). they're still constantly making deep playoff runs. no superbowls, of course. but they've been back twice and lost thanks to a miraculous helmet catch and a wes welker drop (not blaming welker, but that is how close that game was to going the other way).

and peyton gets dragged through the mud because of the post season INTs and pick 6's. it's been a constant throughout his playoff career.

they've actually become a stronger and more consistent team after it (in terms of winning).

Their division being a free ride to the playoffs (and six free wins) for the last decade makes them look 'stronger' than they are.

this. props for the deep playoff runs. lulz at using season wins when the division is the a.f.least.

I don't think they are very good. D line isn't strong enough to stop the run, DBs are horrendous which is recipe for losing in this league. LBs are solid. Offensively they have good talent but Haley's predictable and stale offense loves to see third downs and punts IMO. Ben is great at scrambling out of trouble and finding the guy way down field. Now he scrambles and has a choice of receivers 5-10 yards away and has to finesse the ball. And Tomlin/Rooneys stick with him at OC for some unknown reason

So it's fair to Josh Gordon that he is suspended one full year starting today so HE CAN NOT participate in next years Training Camp and Pre-season??

Oh okay.

That dude quoting my post like I am anti this suspension.

That doesn't bother me.... the timing does though. That's all.

100% unfair to the Browns organization and the fans.

No reason at all to allow this to drag out to 11 days before the season starts, if they knew all along he'd be getting the full year ban. It's not even about the weed or Josh Gordon anymore - the NFL showed incompetence in announcing a ruling that wouldn't jeopardize anything beyond the 2014 season.

He misses all of next years training camp, preventing him to progress in any way beyond this season. That's totally unfair, and I hope to God Josh Gordon and his legal team take legal action for this. Also, to not allow him access to the teams practice facitilty or be around any teammates or team events is even more devistating.

Do they now expect Josh Gordon to walk the straight line, and avoid any complications without having team or staff support?

What a mess. Roger Goodell is truly showing the incompetence of how the NFL works with certain cases.

And how long before we see a change in weed violation and rulings going forward? A month or two? Without the ability to retroactive any previous rulings to enable Josh to become completely off the hook with marijuana.

What a joke. I was literally hours away from ordering the NFL league pass for the whole season - to hell with that. I just pray to a god that Josh and his team take legal action. This is a complete joke.

It's not like this is the first case to be ruled so late though. Kinda standard for the NFL, they drag their feet quite often with these. Not saying it is right but it isn't without precedent

@ people thinking people are crying about fairness.
Well, theres this...

So now Peyton's regular season wins dont count because he played in the AFC South ? So Peyton is mediocre in the regular season AND the playoffs now? Got it

This is the NFL boys. Every team is good and a W is a W. Stop trying to discredit long-lasting success based on strength of schedule. That is laughable.

I thought he was already suspended for the year, and they just announced that its being upheld and not reduced? Is that not the case?
