It is what it is. If the players dont like the rules for them, dont agree to the CBA.

And punishment for your boss is never going to be the same as the employee.

Thats life.

I don't really know what could be done with Irsay. I won't crucify Roger for that punishment.

 dudes mad that Irsay didn't get a "harsher" punishment?

How do you punish a billionaire?  A billionaire that is essentially one of your 31 bosses?

They took a half-a-milli from dude and are gonna keep him away from his favorite toy for half the year. Get the **** over it.

Really I feel like you guys might be the worst team in the NFC not to say you guys are awful, the NFC is just great right now.

I'm not even predicting playoffs, but come on.

Harrison Smith is healthy.
Xavier Rhodes, one of the best rookie corners last year prior to injury, is healthy.
A big improvement at nose tackle in Linval Joseph.
Cordarrelle Year 2.
High variance of Bridgewater (if he does indeed play at all)
The role Barr is being asked to play (just blitz the freaking quarterback) is the one thing he can do at an NFL level right now.
Rudolph in Norv's system, who has had success with Antonio Gates AND Jordan Cameron.
Every piece of the offensive line returning.

And that's ALL without even accounting for what the subtraction of Leslie Frazier and Bill Musgrave (my god) could do, especially next to the additions of both Mike Zimmer and Norv Turner. Oh, and the least talked about guy ever? The Vikings defensive coordinator, George Edwards. He was hand-picked by Zimmer. Yeah, I'm going to put a lot of confidence into a defensive mind that Zimmer plucked out of nowhere. That's all good with me.

That team was 5-10-1 last season, and lost like four-five close games.

My Prediction: 8-8.

Vikings fans that say the team is going to surprise: Point out the wins to me on the schedule. After the opener versus Shaun Hill, the Vikings next four games?

vs NE
@ NO
vs ATL
@ GB

I mean, even if they win the opener, there's a really high chance they start 1-4. For them even to 8-8 then, they'd have to play .500 the rest of the way.

Vikings will surprise. No doubt in my mind.

Surprise for sure, but I see 8-8. I'm not as high on Munnerlyn, by the way.

Don't bring up PFF.

A certain defensive player of the year was the 80th best defensive player according to them.

They must be haters

This is unrelated to Kuechly, because I like him, so just in general --- I would take analytics over what a bunch of AP writers think. I know they're some of the most distinguished in their field, but if you know what heuristics are you can understand my point. How many of them watched the Panthers during the first half of last season? The Panthers were maybe the only team the media wasn't riding going into the 2013 season.

Anyone watch Inside the NFL yet? I'm 30 minutes in and just realized all they've been doing is talking the whole time, but the segment with BMarsh, Ed Reed and Mike Carey is kinda interesting. Explaining the new referee emphasis. Reed taking a stand for the defense and for football in general. He's right.

I'm definitely in the camp that the Vikings have a chance to be much better and even fringe playoff contenders.

But this isn't the first time I heard Xavier Rhodes described as "one of the best rookie corners from last year." What is that supposed to mean? There was like 1 good rookie corner last year (Trufant).

Its not like the rookie corners from last season are some elite unit. You just have to be okay to be "one of the best." It's like saying "he was even better than Dee Milliner"

With that said, Geno Smith was one of the best rookie QBs from last year.

Amerson and Alford. Dee Milli came out late in the season after getting thrown through the wash. Rex is rarely wrong about defensive players. Mo, Sheldon, Harris, Davis, etc.

Vernon Gholston

My point is that Xavier Rhodes was extremely inconsistent like all rookie cornerbacks. Saying he was among the best of an inconsistent group means nothing. We don't know what he is yet. It takes a few years to know if a CB is going to be a good player.

I agree, 10027. Rhodes showed flashes, but he wasn't even given ample playing time for me to say he was one of the best CB's because you're comparing it to a very limited group. I do, however, think that the more he played, the more comfortable he became and started to play really well. I see that continuing and he can definitely become one of the better corners in the entire league.

PFF isn't purely analytics, though. A lot of subjectivity in how they grade out players. There's no uniform system to do so.

They are guaranteed 12 wins in that weak *** division.
laugh.gif
let's be real. denver is the only team right now in the AFC that presents a real challenge to NE. we would 12 games in most divisions in the AFC
laugh.gif
Yeah right now the AFC is weak but over the years NE has benefited from playing in a division with basically no good QB's
laugh.gif
. When you look at other divisions teams go up and down, in the AFC east it's the same story every year except for those 2 years when the Jets were good.
Hold up.

Has the rest of the AFC East's mediocrity benefited New England? Sure. I can also make the case its hurt them in their overall goal, but I'll leave that for another day...

Since 2001, the Patriots winning percentage vs. the AFC East is 78.8% (63-17). Against all other non-divisional opponents? 74.2% (95-33).

vs. all AFC teams? 74.4% (116-40). vs. all NFC teams? 80.8%

(42-10).
"BUT WAT ABOUT SPYGATE DOE?"

Okay...since 2007, the Pats win percentage vs. AFC East is 81% (34-8). Non-div opponents...77.1% (54-16).

78.6%

That's their win percentage in that same time period vs. the AFC (66-18)...which just so happens to be the same exact % vs. the almighty NFC (22-6).

In every one of those categories I just listed...they rank #1 across the league.

The point of posting those numbers isn't to flaunt Brady & Belichick's dominant run, but it's to showcase they beat EVERYONE in the same consistent manner. In the grand scheme of things...the fact that their division is a cakewalk holds little significance. *shrugs*

Y'all gotta go check what X did to Dez in early November last season.......

just signed up for sunday ticket streaming with xbox...officially will be glued to my couch this year starting at 9am rather than heading to the bar for a 12 hour **** show

:pimp:

Sunday Ticket is the only way to live life. I could live in a cardboard box, and still pay for it. I will never, not have it. You only get 16 games. At best, you get 4-5 of those national, plus maybe a lucky "big" game on Sunday that plays nationwide. That's still only 40% of the games, just for your favorite team. :smh:

Naw.

Gimme all of em, DirecTV can name their price, idc.
