NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

It doesn't sit right with me that the prosecutor, Ravens, and Goodell get to just wash their hands of Rice now that its blown up.
Ray is now the poster child for DV and lost everything.

They had their chance to throw the book at him but didn't and now this is to make up for it. I'd like to see them all punished as well.

You'd like to see the prosecutor, Ravens, and Goodell all punished for Ray Rice punching his woman????

Regardless of how they mishandled the situation, they didn't swing on ol girl. Rice did.

Society needs to stop pinning faults on everyone but the guilty parties.

OJ kills two people but dumb cops screw up on a technicality, so he walks.
Josh Gordon gets 14 strikes, blame Goodell for too harsh a punishment.

Rice hit his girl. No one else. Rice should be the fall guy for his situation. It's up to him now to get his rep back up and get his life right so he can get back in the game, same way Mike Vick did.

RT @ImInnate: BREAKING NEWS: Undrafted free agent Gray Grice signed to Ravens practice squad. pic.twitter.com/neYSKpC3ab
He looked good for the Chargers in the preseason. Nice pickup for Baltimore

They way they mishandled it initially, forced their hand to respond like they did second time around. He definitely deserves more than two games but not to be scrubbed out completely imo. He's done now. He'll be getting the "isn't that the guy who beat..." 20 years from now walking down the street. If they'd done their due diligence his punishment would have been somewhere in between like it should be. Glad you mentioned Vick. People will back a player severely punished and coming back but not "oh he got a slap on the wrist and we'd have never known unless for a third party".

They need to be punished (not fall), especially the prosecutor.

*I don't blame anyone but Rice for socking his girl.

He could have been banned for the season the 1st time and once people saw that video it didn't matter; the assumed lifetime suspension was coming

Clearly the prosecutor needs to be dealt with in some way. It looks like evidence of corruption or worse.

Agree. They had the evidence and just dropped the ball. Now the public see what they saw, the mob gets rolling, and the ravens organization and Goodell just did everything they could to disassociate with Rice and wash their hands of any blame.

Rice definitely deserves to be punished, but let's not forget everyone else involved.

I wouldn't jump to corruption or anything like that. If I'm not mistaken, the state usually won't press dv charges if the victim won't.

From what I read CP say: we're calling it a good play because of the result. Had that been Cutler, Romo or Eli, and that's an interception, there's pages of laughing emojis and "what the hell was he doing/thinking?"

People discredit a player for making a great play, but because it wasn't fundamentally correct he is stupid.

They also discredit players who make the fundamentally right play but they are boring and labeled a game manager.

No winning with these guys on here.
If Andrew Luck made that play CP would have came on his computer screen.

Anyone else and get discredited.

I don't even care anymore I just want to win.
That avy is dope

Jerry Jones on the NFL's (Roger) handling of the Ray Rice situation.

Did his senile *** think he was being clever with this ****? LMAO. Eat some apple sauce and grab another pair of ******* bruh.

This dude is actually a crazy man.

Sad part is he probably thought he was being eloquent.

"If this were a different player doing something completely different the reaction would be different."

How is 1 year even erroneous though? any other job that requires drug testing would have resulted in termination from the first offense.
Not necessarily. A lot of big companies will let you seek "help" and stay on board until you fail again.

He didn't even follow his own damn policy he implemented two weeks ago.

- Ray Rice gets 2 games for DV.
- New DV policy states 6 games for 1st offense.
- Video leaks out of 1st offense, Ray Rice now suspended indefinitely.

Clown *** Roger

Apparently Floyd Mayweather made a statement about Rice's situation that has the chick on First Take going in on him...

vilma going in..

I know firsthand the commissioner will go to great lengths to "gather all evidence" but he purposely did not in this instance. Appalling.

If the commissioner had really asked for the video, he would've made it very public & very clear that the casino refused to give it to him.

He should be held accountable for his lack of action just like Ray Rice has finally been held accountable for his actions.

I mentioned that earlier, very suspicious because it would've helped the NFL's image and case

Mannn this is going to be interesting...So does Hardy and Mcdonald get the same treatment as Rice? or because theres no footage they get the pass :nerd:
