@keeL252 Don't take anything most of these dudes say seriously. S&T is full of cubical GMs that pretend to know everything, then go ghost when they're wrong.

I wish I could post every single post before last season that had us finishing last in the east, winning 5 games or less, etc.

Would be really comical.
But that's the NFC East  if you're picked to win the division chances are you won't, and if you're picked to finish last chances are you'll be 1st in the division or fighting for a wild card spot.

Exactly. Dudes were cracking so many jokes when I said that I wouldn't be surprised if the Eagles won the NFC East before the season started (think one dude said Riley Cooper had a better chance of hosting the BET awards or something like that ) Picking the NFC East is never easy, because from top to bottom the four teams aren't that much better or worse than each other.

You make a good point.

It's not like the Eagles are this complete team either. Whole defense is full of. ?s

In the NFL teams go from worst to first and back all the time. Its why its a such an awesome sport and its why this piece of **** organization I root for keeps roping me in every year.

I would disagree. None of what we did last year should be marked as overachieved. If you watched Panthers games close for the same 3 years our problem was we couldn't finish. We have been in every game for the same 3 years except maybe 5. I think we have finally turned the corner on that area and learned how to win on top of Cam maturing. One thing I know about the NFL is defense travels and we had the 2nd in the league and actually got better with some offseason pick ups.

One thing I will agree on is we should've signed hardy early. I think he walks after this year.
Put your team loyalty aside for one moment. Let's take a look together at Carolina's receivers on the roster. K.B., Avant, Cotch, "Philly" Brown, McNutt, King. Fine, Olsen and Dickson more than serviceable at TE. That receiving corps is not helping Cam Newton grow as a Panther. Defense will get stops, no question, and you'd have to expect a lot of premium productivity from Johnson and Hardy as edge-rushers. But what happens when the Panthers can't move the chains and control TOP?

Panthers won last year because they had Cam Newton, decent RBs, no WRs, no talent in the secondary, and the best front 7 in the league.

This year they have Cam Newton, decent RBs, no WRs, no talent in the secondary, and the best front 7 in the league.

I don't see the precipitous decline.

And Steve Smith was already washed last year, he's going to be 2013 ed reed esque on the ravens.
Exactly, this alone will keep us from finishing last. I hate these early predictions cats make, but the Saints are the clear favorites.

Best front seven is debatable. Houston is on the rise, Cincinnati is a legitimate threat even without Michael Johnson, a move the Bengals were prepared for. Kansas City is not quite there but I just wanted to mention them for their superior LB talent. Hali, Houston, Johnson.

None of those front 7s are as good as Carolina though.

Really only the 49ers are debatable.

Purely off the strength of Bowman and Willis. Aldon Smith is currently an anomaly and Justin Smith is on the tail-end of his prime, and that's being generous.

I agree with you, and Bowman is going to be rehabbing for much of the season, which is why I said Carolina is #1.  With a bullet, in my opinion.

The defense as a whole slid last season as Justin Smith began to decline.  People underrate how vital he's been to them being a top defense.

As well as San Francisco has drafted and stashed value prospects, I'm not sure they have an ideal replacement for "Cowboy." Lattimore, Hyde, and Hunter can replace Gore when the wheels fall off. Patton can step-in for "Crabby" if he leaves. Maybe "Tank" Carradine is the answer post-Smith.

The Panthers have the worst offensive tackle group in the entire NFL. Maybe the worst o line overall.

If you go position group by position group the Panther's offensive line, secondary and wide receiver core aren't just bad but league worst possibly.

I'll be shocked if they win more than 7 games.
