Its abuse but i wouldnt say babrbaric....if you really wanna use that term i suggest to look back at the roman empire thats barbaric

bar·bar·ic
bärˈbarik/
adjective
adjective: barbaric

1.
savagely cruel; exceedingly brutal.

Humor me.....is there physical ABUSE towards a child that isn't barbaric?

Abuse is abuse.

Is this Bush story hitting media outlets? I'm assuming no word from the NFL yet but has it picked up steam or just in here?

I was gonna get on Keel for complaining about this news being in here again but I can see his point.

And if you're against leaving open wounds on a 4 year old, you're soft and you weren't raised right.

But then again, I see who is posting this stupidity. So it's expected.

Same. He had a point, its all the threads been about for weeks. But the media knows what its doing.

Only CBS so far that I've seen, but its gonna happen.

Yall sound like AP put scars on his back from slavery .... Yeah its abuse to use a switch that gave him marks but i wouldnt say barbaric

NFL Network did talk football for a little amount of time. I was really happy about that.

 well there's a lot of football talk when games are on, the thread just moves too quickly to keep up. If there were other news, I'm sure it'd be all over the thread too. Just the flow of things unfortunately lately :smh:

I agree with your side just because it brings out the full dumb in some people.

Shutting up is just too hard for some people. Everyone wants to be heard, and now there will be a federal investigation on Reggie Bush and he runs the chance of losing custody of his child. All because he wanted to voice his opinion on a matter where people already have hardset opinions.

He shouldnt be doing that to a one year old anyways and is clearly unfit to parent based off that IMO, so that girl should be taken. Hopefully the mother is a level headed individual.

If this story is true.
Damn......yall harsh.

I think I whipped my son when he was 1.

Getting fairly clear who has children and who doesn't. The thought of "whipping" or "whooping" my one year old daughter, or even her four year old self, gives me the shakes. :smh:

There's spanking her pamper (which she can barely even feel) and using a tree branch on her bare skin.

The thing about it is, kids don't need actual pain to learn, just spanking their diaper "hurts/scares" them enough. The thought of mommy or daddy spanking them makes them sad as hell and teaches the lesson enough. To actually inflict pain.......... :smh:

IDK about you guys but I've been hit with a belt as a kid as a form of discipline, it did teach me not to do what was bad, not mad at my parents for it looking back now because I know sometimes I was a little terror but I didnt like it and I wont do that to my kids thats for sure.

Eff discipline with the belt or any object. JMO

I'm 28, and when I was a youngster I would get the belt...

I also have a daughter on the way.  No way I'll be "whooping" her at age 1 let alone age 4.

1 year old child barely has standing on their own down... People think that a "whooping" is going to register in their brain in any other way than confusion?

the worst discipline I ever received was having to stay in on a weekend, miss a Friday night or school event with the friends such as our HS's football game, dance, movies, mall, etc.

smacking me didn't teach me a damn thing because I knew once the beating was over I was still getting to do those things

It's a damn shame how little we have been able to talk about the actual games this season because of all these scandals. Not good for the NFL man. Focus should be on the product on the field.

Radisson Hotels suspended their sponsorship w/ the Vikings, I just read. They wasted NO time.

I get what you're saying, but that was HS, and by then attempting discipline is all but a lost cause

Targeting pro athletes? Same guys who constantly beat the system due to their celebrity status? Cry me a ******* river. I'm glad morons like Peterson are being taken to task for 1) being negligent parents and 2) punishing the **** out of their YOUNG children in a barbaric manner.

They're getting aired out and for good reason. Same **** happens on the daily to everyday joes, but you don't hear about because they aren't (duh) celebrities.

*edit*

I have ZERO respect or sympathy for Peterson or anyone who co-signs this type of ABUSE. There is a complete difference between actually disciplining a child (even by spanking) and what he did.
We talked about this, and I have similar views.  It's the fact and idea that AP does not really carry values of his own, let alone his many kids with so many women.  It seems like he doesn't care how others may feel, and this has trickled down to his blurry personal life.  You can discipline your kid alright, but you don't do it in such a way where you leave such scars.  It simply does not work that way.  There's NO ROOM for discussion.  You are disciplining them to teach them from repeating the same mistake again, and to teach them right from wrong.  You don't need to leave bruises and scars. PERIOD.

What AP did was wrong, but his character and morals are more corrupted than anything.  He did not stand up for his kid, his wife, his gf, and simply used his childhood as an excuse to 'beat' again.  SHAME ON AP.

I got disciplined, I got whoppings, but at the end of the day, I also had a dad, a mom and a family.  I can't speak the same for AP's KIDS and I often do question their mindset.  Dad comes home, beats and leaves for a brother or sister that he/she has never seen before.

I mean I was hit as a kid too but I learned not to fear it after time

but if you took away my Nintendo time then I learned a lot quicker

that's terrible...once you get that tail whooped, your not suppose to get to do those things either.
