You can say what you want about Ray Rice but what I did take from that article was he's definitely a good dude that made a huge mistake. He was immediately remorseful after those events took place.

I think their family will be fine when the dust settles.

Easy to be remorseful when everything you have gets taken away from you.

Didn't she try to take blame at first? Everyone thought she did something horrible tha warranted the reaction. Not sure if that was his, hers or their lawyers idea

True remorse would have meant going out and taking real responsibility for his actions. Which Ray obviously didn't do.

Likelihood is he has hit her before and since.

Did yall not read that he called his buddy over the next morning, crying and told him what he did? Cried with the HS students in the gym too and told them not to ever do what he did. All that was before the suspension and the 2nd tape released.

I know it's easier to imagine people as the devil though so I get it. :rolleyes

I want to believe Rice was remorseful just because it would feel better than to be skeptical and assume he doesn't care, but I don't know how this situation could have gotten worse for him.

Yeah...  because he got caught and messed up his career.  THAT he was clearly remorseful for.

The way he treated his wife during and after the incident didn't show that much remorse in that direction.

b.marsh football life was great. im glad dude was able to get help and get back on track to feeling good. wish he would of got that help while in denver. b. marsh at thomas

Ive been saying that's the part that got him screwed not the 2 piece combo...

if he would of shown any kind of remorse or fervor we would be having a different conversion

dude didn't come to her aid or knelt down or anything after he slept her

and the worst part, worse than the punches is how he couldn't even pick her up

like bruh you re a world class athlete your max bench + squat + dead lift is probably 10 times your wifes weight and you couldn't even carry her if your arms or something

I don't know if it's fair to say Rice wasn't remorseful. What he did was pretty heinous, so there's no defending him. Half a bottle of tequila though? That never ends up well.

It's upsetting because I never knew how great he was off the field for the city of Baltimore and how he was truly thought to be one of the good guys. Another one bites the dust.

100% Agree. These dudes must not have read the full article.

Yea he was doing a lot in the community...he still gets alotta luv out here tho, and for some reason it's a good amount of females here that still support him regardless of the tape/evidence  :smh: ...talked to a number of chicks that blame his girl or the league :smh:

The point is, whether Rice is remorseful or not for his actions he's now paying for it. I can't stand Godell, dude is a hypocrite and definitely plays favoritism. I'm sure he wanted to sweep this under the rug but external factors didn't let him. The league is currently under scrutiny and pressure from organizations that want to see actions take place.

Sad to say but Ray is now the poster boy for domestic violence just because that tape was force fed down our throats. The NFL is gonna need a scapegoat and Ray is going to be that dude that takes the fall. I feel sorry for the dude because I am able to see the other side of things here. Seems like he's a good dude and has done a lot for the community, but he's in a real tight spot.

I got the vibe that ray rice was a real good guy who did alot for the community in Baltimore, was a good teammate and person.

That doesn't take away from the fact that he made a terrible mistake that unfortunately for him, was made on camera and shown for the whole world to see. Its annoying though how you have people crucifying him and ripping him to shreds day in day out as if their morally perfect and don't have their share of skeletons in the closet they wouldn't want put out for the world to see and shown over and over on tv where one very bad incident takes away from all the good you did both on and off the field.

Knowing how some niketalkers like to take bits and pieces of a persons post and try and twist their words around, again let me emphasize that ray rice did a terrible thing and should've initially been suspended longer. However, treating him as the sacrificial lamb and face of domestic violence in the NFL is going way too far. I hope he serves this suspension, most likely the entire season but gets a chance to redeem himself next year with a new team.

I'm tired of seeing this stuff on espn.com though. You got actual on field sports stuff going on like some real good divisional races in the closing stretch of the MLB season, a bunch of college football games going on today, and some pretty good week 3 NFL games on schedule for tomorrow, but they rather keep talking about an off the field incident from way back in feburary instead of actual current on field sports related stuff.

if every future offender is treated the same as rice from a suspension/fine etc standpoint, i have no issue with rice being used to make an example. but i want to see consistency with future domestic violence cases. good dude and community man aside, what he did was downright sick.

If I just lost millions of dollars and possibly my football career I would cry too. like I said **** Ray Rice, he also spit in her damn face!

Yeah, consistency is key here. But in my opinion, the NFL never cared about domestic violence the way they claim they all of a sudden do now. I remember hearing incidents happening year in year out over the years where it was just a footnote and another player would get a DUI or do something else stupid the next day.

They care that its a ton of public outrage and sponsors are threatining to end their deals with the NFL and the financial ramifications from that. If there wasn't two damming videos for the world to see, that understandably hit close to home for anyone who has a sister or daughter, this would just be another incident and a typical NFL offseason where quite a few players get in trouble with the law. I hope the enforcing of the no tolerance on domestic violence is consistent though and their willing to let all the facts come out before the punish tho.

Ray Rice and Terry Smith were two of the most active Ravens in the Baltimore community. Like not PR stuff, but legit hands on stuff not for the cameras (irony).

Said from the start that he's a good guy that made a terrible choice. Wish the best for him and his family going forward.

agreed. it's dollars driven. at the end of the day though, it's a step in the right direction, no matter what motivation. and agreed on the fact that they need to do a much better and cleaner job investigating.

Exactly. You can tell the ones who didn't or at least didn't comprehend. Anyways, I've said my piece about it.

Ready to see some good games tomorrow! Not looking forward to traveling to the Superdome though :frown:
