NFL Discussion Thread: Pats win SB XLIX. Offseason begins

They have to pull the plug on the trich experiment. They have him starting or bring him in to lead off a drive and he kills it right away. Come playoff time that will cost us.

Hes nothing more than a fullback. We have to just eat the last year of his deal next year 3.6 mill I believe. Its better to pay the guy to stay off this team than to constantly get 1 yard per carry. It gets me so frustrated seeing him out there. I want to break my TV. lol

Let Boom Herron flourish!

Someone asked Belichick about Bieber today. His response:
BB response: "Are you talking about Butler, the Chargers' linebacker?"
Dude is lost.

Hoyer is in the last year of his deal, if they don't plan on bringing him back might as well take the handcuffs off of Johnny and see what he can do as the starter.

Hey, if the Browns want to keep trotting out a mediocre QB whose 9 wins as a starter consists of 6 against teams that are a combined 6-24, then go for it. When the Colts obliterate them this weekend, maybe they'll take a chance. Let's see how far the mentality of "you've had terrible QB's for 20+ years and now you want to overrate the only semi-mediocre QB you've had in a while" gets them.

But then again, according to the NFL experts, we can write off Manziel as an NFL QB because he's played less than five NFL series. Because the God's Bortles and Carr have excelled in their series played.

unless your defense is made of 5 all pros and 2 other pro bowlers, you should probably wait 'til everyone is logged on to explain.

damn, i'm too late. get what you're saying but tell tops teams that lose their qb that.

obvious example: Colts when Manning went out

another: ******** were damn good when RGIII was playing at an all star level. Now he has better weapons and isn't playing almost halfway decent and the ******** are terrible.

Bears going to beat the cowboys?

I've been preparing for this slide since Week 7

watching Sanchez/McCoy literally walk it down the field without breaking a sweat those first two drives makes me nervous about what Cutler/Forte can do with those two stud WR's against their secondary.
I'm already envisioning a BBQ chicken buffet on Thursday with Carr and Scandrick being the main course.

What?

Manziel has done nothing to earn the starting spot. Why should they bench their quarterback who has them with more wins than they've had in years?

My point is if the NFL continues to have the 'top' award be MVP, the winner is almost always going to be a QB since the QB is inherently more valuable than any other position in the sport. They handle the ball every offensive snap which is unlike any other position on the offensive side of the ball (besides center of course) who has to rely on someone either handing them or throwing them the ball. The QB is so important that it is the one position where for the majority of teams, if they lose the starter at that position they will miss the playoffs. No other position is like that. So fundamentally the value of a QB is more than any other player, even if that QB isn't an elite talent. What I want is the award to be changed to 'best player of the year' where all positions have a shot of winning because it is based less on perceived value to a team and more on 'who is the best'

A lot is a semantics argument as well, but just what I'd like to see changed

I agree

Do you think this is because of Hoyer's play? He has 1/6 TD/INT the last 3 games, has only two games over 1 TD on the season and the worst completion % in the league. I understand they've won 10 starts of his. But he's been a very mediocre QB being pumped up because Cleveland has not had even a mediocre QB sans one season from Derek Anderson in God knows how long. What is the damage of putting Manziel out there and seeing if he can move the offense at a better pace than what it has been the last few weeks? He's going to be replacing a guy who notoriously struggles against average defenses/winning teams. I do not see the harm in trying to spark a stagnant offense that is currently losing every tiebreaker to every team above them.

If they're the Jets or Skins, yeah. They're in a playoff race. Manziel is good on the bench; he'll get his shot.

The damage is if Manziel is not good or not ready to play.  If he isn't prepared and he comes in and sucks, they have to stick with him.  There is always a risk to throwing in a project QB too early.

We'll be fine. Focus will definitely be the ball control, keep defense off the field formula we've won with this year.

The better question is, will the Eagles beat the Seahawks?
