If Goodell had any balls he would've just suspended Ray for the whole '14-'15 season and the tape may not have surfaced. He played the slap on the wrist game and now everybody is looking incompetent. Goodell is about to step down

wow robert mathis done for the year... another year of luck shouldering the load and putting the team on his back... grigson needs to go...

That tape was showing up eventually no matter what, its 2014.

That's also why I'm blown away that someone could have seen that tape and given him a two gamer and that's it.

Doubt it.  NFL's lawyers>>>>> Rays lawyers.

I don't think the NFLPA will want to back him just to back him like that.

Maryland is an At-Will Employment state which means if you work in MD, you can be fired for little to no reason at all from your employer.

Even if he did sue and somehow won... How much is that gonna matter?  Maybe he'll get a settlement for a few million?  NFL still comes out on top because no one in the league will sign him to a contract anyways.

1. The NFLPA is legally bounded to back Ray no matter the circumstances and they will appeal and try to win for Ray Rice.

2. I believe the CBA out weighs state legislature. Take recreational weed for example.

free tavon Austin:

I would follow that with and he plays wide receiver, but I don’t even know what that means anymore. Norv Turner coordinated offenses for the early-’90s Cowboys and is now running jet sweeps with Cordarrelle Patterson. Brian Schottenheimer was worrying about prom in the early ’90s and still has no idea what to do with Tavon Austin.

Wait what? They kicked him out the league?

What is going on with this new tape? Knowshon is cool, but I'm not trying to depend on him. I need 'right hook ray rice' in my backfield.

Goodell aint steppin down

Rice saying goodell saw the tape is the only way he'll leave that job

Welp...I'm pissed. I demand he apologizes to those who drafted him. Why not? Everyone apologizes for everything anyway, I want my pandering too.

Goodell isn't going anywhere, NFL commissioner position used to be someone who ran the league, he's just someone being paid a ton to help the owners make even more money, and does whatever they say.

They don't even care about player safety with these rule changes, they just want the lawsuits to end because it helps their pockets in the long run.

Only way they can get rid of this issue is to get rid of the player.

His career isn't over. His season is but he will be picked up next year, guaranteed.
Honestly what franchise would be so desperate for a rb that they'd willingly sign him when they're aware of the ****storm of bad pr that it would bring?

He's pretty much damaged goods now

It may very much be you who can't see things from an outside prespective.
Brandon Marshall getting stabbed and retaliating doesn't compare to this.

Josh Gordon smoking weed doesn't compare to this.

Stallworth hitting someone with a car doesn't compare to this.

Vick dealings with dogs doesn't compare to this.

NO idea why people bring up these incidents to compare to the Rice situation. Everything is completely different.
@JJ Watt Is a narcissistic cornball. I've learned to mute him out years ago.
Cool.
I think people are saying the punishment for some crimes/offenses aren't  just compared to others. Weed is legal in nearly half the country but you get a year ban for it. You kill someone (whether it's by accident or not) and it's cool for you to come back but you hit your girl and you can get a lifetime ban. The punishments don't fit the crimes, especially in comparison.I'm sure you get that though right?

Damn.

Just watched ESPN and saw that video

Can't believe they dropped the hammer on Ray like that. Wether it's the right or wrong thing, who knows and at this point it just makes the league look foolish. There's no possible way they didn't have this video evidence before, now that it's gone public they decided to really punish him.

The only question I have is what can Ray do? Does he have a legit case to sue the NFL?

Agree with the lawyer comparison but the NFLPA will likely ride for him. That's their job. Didn't they try to make the Pats still pay Hernandez?
Clowney out 4-6 weeks.

you're gonna be disappointed if yall get him. but the upside is the 2 additional games yall win with him will bring the season record to 7-9
