I got punished as a kid by getting whooped, and I'm going to punish my kids when they get out of line.

From 1-18 years old. If you're my child, and you literally act out of line...getting whooped will be inevitable at some point.

Not every whooping is child abuse. People really need to stop targeting these professional athlete's, when kids from all over the country are getting the same type of whoopings and not one person is calling it child abuse - we're specificially holding these parent-athletes to a higher standard for whatever reason, and that's not fair..

That's simply not true, now you are being extreme. It is known you can spank you kids and thousands of parents do that to older kids without 321-KIDS being involved

I have a 3yr old daughter and she knows when she misbehaves i give her that one look to cut it out yes i spank her when she gets out of line and afterwards i explain to her why i did it and reassure her that i love her and i want her to do whats best that way down the road she knows how to behave properly and be respectful towards other especially her parents

While annoying nothing will happen to them. But that's an extreme reaction by the other party to make that call. Spanking is acceptable, and I have no problem with it (except on one year olds but you cleared that up earlier. Still concerned about AT though)

Aren't there studies showing that whooping isn't even an effective method of discipline?

Ie: teaching the kid they should clean their room or they'll get whooped, vs teaching the kid to clean their room because it's good to keep a clean room.

Poor example, but hopefully the point got across.

Also agree with dmx. You can kind of tell who hasn't been around a 1 year old. My nephew is almost 2 and I couldn't imagine raising a hand to him. Even at 4 :smh:

my mom hit me and my dad didn't

growing up I would listen to my dad much more than my mom and I think it has everything to do with this

Targeting pro athletes? Same guys who constantly beat the system due to their celebrity status? Cry me a ******* river. I'm glad morons like Peterson are being taken to task for 1) being negligent parents and 2) punishing the **** out of their YOUNG children in a barbaric manner.

They're getting aired out and for good reason. Same **** happens on the daily to everyday joes, but you don't hear about because they aren't (duh) celebrities.

*edit*

I have ZERO respect or sympathy for Peterson or anyone who co-signs this type of ABUSE. There is a complete difference between actually disciplining a child (even by spanking) and what he did.

Stop being rational

In a barbaric manner? - I done read it all in here..

So marks left on a child for about a week after the initial punishment isn't barbaric?

I really feel sorry for any child you bring into this world if this is your mindset. Coppin' that automatic L before they're born. :smh:

**** grinds my gears...I don't know folks can't comprehend the difference between discipline and abuse.

Oh look who it is.

Why am I not surprised.

You gonna compare this to Gordon too?

Go look that 4 year old and tell him it wasn't a big deal, it wasn't barbaric.

Do you have any young relatives in your family?

Its abuse but i wouldnt say babrbaric....if you really wanna use that term i suggest to look back at the roman empire thats barbaric

And if you're against leaving open wounds on a 4 year old, you're soft and you weren't raised right.

But then again, I see who is posting this stupidity. So it's expected.

I was gonna get on Keel for complaining about this news being in here again but I can see his point.
